What is it about gorgeous women bass guitarists...began with Suzi Quatro, and then Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads, D'arcy Wretzky-Brown, Melissa Auf der Maur, Nicole Fiorentino, and Ginger Pooley from Smashing Pumpkins [how many women bass guitarists has this band had over its career?!], the late Kristen Pfaff from Hole, Kim Deal and Paz Lenchantin from Pixies, Gail Ann Dorsey - David Bowie, Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth, Sean Yseult from White Zombie & Star & Dagger, Michael Steele from Bangles, Rhonda Smith - Prince, Johnette Napolitano from Concrete Blonde, Aimee Mann from Til Tuesday, Kathy Valentine from Go-Go's, Tracy Wormworth from B-52s, Debbie Googe from My Bloody Valentine & Primal Scream, and last but my no means least, Cait O'Riordan from The Pogues. Go you great women bass axe players - however a special mention to the gal playing bass in this vid with Moby; Greta Brinkman/'Bass Godess' as not only is she an awesome bass guitarist, she is also left handed and plays her bass guitar that way. She’s been in the game for a long time, and has racked up some major endorsements: GHS Strings, Gallien-Krueger amps (she uses an 800RB head and is “not that fussy” about cabinets) and Carvin guitars. Carvin built Brinkman a green bass guitar; 'It is a left-handed body but they reversed the nut and bridge for me so I can string it right handed, since I learnt to play it upside down'. Some famous musicians play guitar upside down with the strings right-handed; think Tony Iommi and Jimi Hendriz to name two. FYI here is a list of musicians who play left-handed - it makes for some fascinating reading: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_musicians_who_play_left-handed

@brendandunleavy1399 Жыл бұрын
I seen the Play tour in Edinburgh Liquid rooms and although my memory is kinda hazy, it looks more or less the same band, it was the smallest venue of the tour, but the best part of this story is after the tour ended I heard him when he was being interviewed on Radio 1 saying although it was the smallest venue it was his favourite gig of the tour. I also seen him many times during the 90's rave scene and he was always amazing.
