My Corgi boy used to do this. Even when he was older, he'd sometimes sit in front of the mirror and look at himself, like he was contemplating how handsome he was.

+Anthony Long It would be fun if there is digital "mirror" (a screen with a camera) that has a 3-30+ seconds delay this way the animal won't recognise that it is itself or that its being mimicked. :D

My dog is so smart he saw himself in the mirror and had no reaction. He then continued to deconstruct quantum mechanics while using his bone as a model for planck length, Not as cute as this little guy though

+Jill Sandwich Never happened to me, but a family friend had it happen to his dog. They were standing in an elevator with one of those mirror walls, and he just kept looking back and forth, like he was just noticing how there was a dog like him, with a master like him, then something seemed to click, and he never looked at a mirror again. I think there's something that doesnt quite compute when they see themselves from the outside like that.

Dear MochaCorgi, my dog was also named Mocha and he died about 5 months ago. He died from a huge growth in his stomach. It was the size of a soccer ball. I still grieve to this day as your little pup Mocha makes me think about my Mocha. I love ur dog. Sincerely, Asuka Verenini.

A mate of mine filmed his pup doing much like this in a mirror - but got worried he might hurt himself, so he sat beside him, so the pup could see his owner's reflection as well. The pup looked at the two reflections for a few moments, then twigged - he put a paw on his owner's leg, and when he saw the reflection do the same, gave his owner a look as if to say "Got it!"

Thanks for the response. Right after I first posted my question, I read that the difference between Pembroke and Cardigan Welsh Corgis is that the Cardigan's have tails and the Pembrokes don't, so that answered my question. Mocha is soooooo precious!

They can be safe places for dogs to retreat to when they are stressed as long as they are properly introduced at a young age & it isn't used for punishments. I know a dog who goes into her crate when she is ready for a nap or if there a lot of guests in the home. Just leave the door open & they can go in & out as they please.
