I have travelled to Japan twice, once in 2023 and now in April, I've been able to improve my japanse significantly before I couldnt read hiragana but now I feel like I can read both Hiragana and Katakana. I'm learning about Kanji through duolingo which has kept me motivated so far to study consistently. I'm hoping by Decemeber I will have continued improving my japanese to take N5 but I'm afraid for my grammar and ability to actually speak it. But my overall goal is to be fluent in Japanese as I would like to one day live and work in Japan!
@sspecter49449 ай бұрын
Personally i'd recommend wanikani for kanji and vocabulary. Duolingo isn't very useful in my opinion, and from what I've read online many agree on that. For grammar it's more difficult than simply learning kanji, but I would recommend bunpro. Wanikani doesn't follow the JLPT levels and the words are seemingly random, but they're dependent on building the kanji with building blocks called "radicals". As for bunpro, they have levels n5-1 and the option to choose from certain textbooks which I haven't really tried. It also includes vocabulary if you would like that.

Duo lingo is effective you just have to be very consistent- been learning with exclusively Duolingo for a full year and am at a conversational level

I have no problem with it either but people who do need to get used to seeing it on Mochi's channel because she is naturally gifted for this kind of advertising, and her ability to speak English at an advanced level only helps her do that.

It's because I'm a Filipino it's so hard for Filipino to learn other language and learn different tradition it takes me a lot of KZbin advice and google translator😅 but im happy that I can speak more fluent now btw I'm only 16 years old despite the hardness of learning I overcome it, I believe to those who watch this video you will learn it

I’ve been listening to Pimsleur Japanese lessons almost every weekday (30 minutes) for 1 year 8 months, maybe 50 YT videos on learning Japanese, listen to Japanese music and watch anime relatively often and can form sentences and understand Japanese at about JLPT N5 level. I feel I’ve stagnated and haven’t improved much in the last 3 months but I just need to learn more vocabulary at this point. I barely remember some hiragana and no kanji, but I can communicate well with my Japanese friend at work. Point is I’ve only put in baseline effort, it’s not as hard as you think and you will feel accomplished as time goes by, only about 1 year to be forming sentences competently. Mina ganbare!

For me, I found learning Kanji as a beginner through words a problem in Japanese...that was because of the multiple pronunciations of each kanji. In chinese, since most hanzi have only 1 pronunciation this wouldn't be a problem. For me in Japanese, I just did it the old fashion way....writing it thousands of times by hand in a 原稿用紙 (げんこうようし/Ge n Ko u yo u shi/Japanese character practice notebook)...each time repeating the meaning and pronunciations. Used anki together with the 原稿用紙 to write them by memory....it was a very tedious process that would take 4 hours of my day (those were COVID times so I had time) for 1 year and 1 month... but I can't argue with the results....4 years later, there is nothing I can't read with ease....of course, I still find new kanji every now and then, but for everything I like to read and consume, and even just searching for random things on the internet in Japanese, it's rare when I find a kanji I don't know. Even when I do find new kanji, I don't need to study it...I just learn by organic repetition (seeing it in context without the help of something like anki)

When I studied Japanese years ago it was said to achieve a level of fluency required to be a translator in the diplomatic core it required 10 years of experience with the language, a minimum of 2 years living in Japan and being married to a Japanese national. My criticism of the University beginning courses, in my case was a mixture of N5 and N4 with dialogue mainly centred around University life and situations but it was all in Keigo or polite language but I have found that casual form is essential for learning the language in construction of larger sentences but for aural comprehension it is essential to learn to think in Japanese so that you are not translating into English in your mind then back to Japanese because it gives a slow unnatural response and when you think in Japanese it is casual form not polite form, for any beginners thinking you don’t know enough vocabulary to think in Japanese you use what you do know and force your self only to think of those things such as waiting for public transport in Australia “電車は遅いな、まったく!” and so on.
@whiteegretorchids82348 ай бұрын
On MochiKanji, can you save words to say you already have them memorized? Because I know a lot of random vocabulary due to me listening to Japanese music every day, but I still don’t know a lot of the basics. Though some words are at a different level than I’m actually at as well, so I was wondering if that was possible.
