Watching this video, it seems the mediator is advising and suggesting to the parties what to do? Should this be the case in mediation session? The mediator is neutral and should not suggest solutions but should facilitate communication between both that will end in an amicable solution.

An interesting and helpful question. in my experience many mediating couples welcome the mediator giving information and making suggestions about different ways to sort things out. As long as the mediator remains even handed this can be very helpful to couples. Neutrality can be experienced as a very passive quality by couples who can feel consequently stuck. Talking through with a couple how their children may be feeling can be very powerful and galvanising for their future co-parenting.
