Dude this is really some awesome work you have done here. I really doubt why is this video series not tearing the charts yet. I really hope it does, so that it can help other people as it helped me. Many thanks.

1) we might also consider reducing manufacturing cost as well to increase profit per unit. 2) lets not forget even urban markets, people who love camping and trekking could also be the target audience for this kind of product.

but they want to enter the rural market, so we can discard option 2, otherwise nice suggestion

Product is terrible though, Indian population never gonna buy something at 6K which had a lifetime of only 2 years :D

The prompt and problem statement mention it's a "how to enter" problem, not a "whether to enter" case. Not sure if this is a market sizing / attractiveness case.

1) In India, with the rapid modernization. The people having no excess to electricity has been reduced to 5%. So, the problem comes down to how many of them can afford it. 2) I think we should also take into account those households which can afford more than one lantern. I have observed that higher income bracket can afford it for their farm or house or even let say 2 lanterns for a house. 3) I think we should not completely ignore the urban category. Rich and middle-class people do not have a need for this product but if I talk about the lower class they might have a need for this if they are living in an area with frequent power cuts. Slums and govt. companies for them. I did the estimate using these assumptions and I am getting a market size of 50 Million units.

While estimating market size, are we looking at current or potential size ? The product awareness would be high in Urban Market, so are we considering potential Rural market ??

WHAT IS THE MARKET SIZE AND MARKET SHARE? TAKEN

May I ask why he didn't go for family wise analysis rather than individual basis analysis?

From my point of view, You don't carry lanterns on individual basis, you share the lanterns (one or two lanterns) within a family.

in a case study of "Number of laptops in India", candidate has assumed that the urban population is 70% and rural is 30% while in this case study candidate is assuming just the opposite.... why this is so?

Bro the correct figure is U 30% and R 70% this time they have corrected the mistake.

the number doesn't really matter if you convey what you are doing to the interviewer and he/she accepts it
