Heath is essentially the most experienced dancer on their team. He’s been to dancemania, he had a featured duet at nationals. He helped Pete get through his problems and has always been there for everyone on the team. I mean come on he’s easily the best fit for captain atm. ALSO why is Anthony not the choreographer?! Like Kenzie herself said so… Nick pls do something Eldon has gone bonkers 😭😭

The turning comp as the first round made me so mad because it hindered the hip hop dancers so badly 😭 best dancer does not equal best dance captain and I feel like that round was absolutely USELESS 😭😭 If it actually meant something, Eldon would’ve been dance captain every season but obviously he wasn’t

Yeah but at the same time many of our best turners randomly lost so it's just the plot doing whatever it wants no matter the dancers or dance style. Like Presley having the best audition but randomly losing bc the plot needs to and being completely unrelated to her dance level lmao.

I still hate that they no longer vote for a dance captain just straight up. These task make no sense to me, shouldn't it be a team decision, and that's because it's important dance captain is someone that A-troupe wants to lead them.

I gotta have a quick rant about this ep😂 I dont understand why the competition to pick dance captain was about how long you could turn for because eldon was the one doing the turning comp in season 3 but he wasn't dance captain also what does that have to do with you being a good dance captain the second challenge was about adaptability but again that isnt necessarily about being a good dance captain the only one that was about leadership was the 3rd one but by then everyone was basically kicked off and didnt get a chance to show their leadership qualities the challenge for the most part was about dance ability which isnt the most important thing in being dance captain emily wasnt the best dancer on a troupe but after she changed she was a great dance captain

hey alishea, just wanted to say ive been watching your videos for ages and am loving this reaction series :) if you remember, i am the person who constantly suggested that you should do a whitewall intro ranking hahahaha, i was thrilled when you did it :). i know you said that you were wanting to get back into doing some other tns content so if you have free time, i would really love to see you do some more ranking videos? ideas i had were ranking episodes, ranking rival team dances (just the ones we have an extended version of), ranking various auditions done on the show (etc for line placements or to get into certain dances), ranking a-troupers from various seasons, or even revising some of your old rankings like you did with the character rankings?? those are the ones i can think of off the top of my head haha, i would also totally be here for a return of guess the reference or a s9 soundtrack ranking like you've mentioned! i personally love your vids and find myself bingewatching old videos of yours often so if you have the free time and the passion for it i know we would all love to see you return to your roots and do some classic vids :)

yeahh honestly I did enjoy seeing the actual battles and the fact that the dancers voted for dance captain for once like it used to be back in the day, but i would have definitely replaced the turning competition with a scenario based competition like in season 4 with skylar, Amy and richelle. the AMOUNT of times the dance captain has to make last minute decisions on this show is insane, so they (nick and eldon) both should have realised that they need to test the dancers ability to deal with last minute situations etc. stuff like even as recent as nationals where kenzie literally ran on stage instead of Jude when she was the alternate can never happen again 😭 the way they set it up I knew Ariana was going to get the dance captain position, but that twist at the end definitely threw me, and I have seen a lot of comments on TikTok of ppl saying that grace is actually behind the letter and internationals saying that tns have to cut to 11 dancers, but we'll have to wait and see for 9B! can't wait for the trailer reaction

The cliffhanger of Ariana having the dilemma of cutting someone is good. Okay! So I’m fully betting that Grace will tell Ariana to kick Heath off the team since he’s been her target since day 1 at the auditions. Since he’s supposedly the heart of the team, it makes sense for Grace to still come after him. If Ariana votes out Jett, Adele or Olive then it will provide more juicy drama between them which affects the team but it makes more sense for Grace and Ariana to keep gunning for Heath. The other reason why I think it’s Heath is because of the S9B trailer. The trailer shows Heath and Pascale getting closer and I can’t think of any reason why they would suddenly get close unless Heath becomes the alternate which is a good reason for them to become united. So I’m fully betting that Grace will gun for Heath. I’ll be surprised if it’s not him they target. Loved hearing Wings in the credits for this episode. Weirdly this is the only episode that has the UK pitch. So excited for 9B to drop tomorrow!

Eldon, also being a hip hop dancer himself, is the last person who should have set a “turning competition”. Also I was so sure Heath would be in the top 3 at least but wow. Anthony or Heath def deserved that position more than anyone else. And leadership skills don’t come from dancing or people like Richelle/Eldon would’ve always been captain.

I think the turning part makes some sense. Isn't about who can turn better but who makes the most effort to stay turning ( like Izzy). Oliv got distract, Ethan was focous on how good he was and ended falling. And the vote part is valid too, the dances saw the trios and who was the best in a short time of work. I think they could explained better of course.

I think it’s quite risky for teams to only have 11 dancers. TNS has always struggled with keeping all the dancers until the finals. What if 2 dancers eat sushi burritos or kebabs? I also wish the battle royale was a bit like the Season 4 test and Giselle trying with the J troupers in S3.

I completely agree with u abt the dance captain competition. None of the rounds were fair and the first two really had nothing to do with being a dance captain. And the voting system was also unfair. I think the best way to figure out the team would be just a regular vote like in s5. I don't think kenzie could be removed from the team tho bc since she's already in France surely she's already been registered for the team.

what i would like to happen next: they kick kenzie off the team, as she is going to be away for most of the lead up to internationals anyway. then when she gets back she can just become studio head (with nick as studio owner of course) bc she's basically been acting as the studio head since season 8 anyway lmao.

Alright, now I don't have to censor myself while ranting😅 So the battle royal was fun, when you take dance captain out of it, but like you kept pointing out....none of the challenges made sense really to see who would be the best *dance captain*. And once they brought in Grace pressuirng Arianna to be dc for their plan, it became very obvious that she was going to win. Which sucked, because I think Anthony would be a better dc. It would've been far more interesting if Arianna didn't win at all, and some new plan was formed by Grace. And all of this circles back to what I've been saying all season, s9 so far has an issue with making decisions and actions believable. Arianna's performance during the battle royal does not prove at all that she would be a good dc and deserved it, nor showed the team feeling that way so when they voted the audience knows why they believe Arianna would be better than the others. And then, why in the world was the internationals rules changed???? It's not like the 11 dancers rule was announced at the beginning and TNS simply misread or forgot to read over that letter until now. Absolute Dance just suddenly chose to make everyone cut a dancer after receiving everyone's rosters AND forcing all teams to send one member off to a different country. Like I fail to see how that makes sense in-universe and writing wise. For all teams, this essentially means no one will have an alternate there to learn all the dances, or the poor team members who had to go to a different country are no longer ON THEIR OWN TEAMS AND WENT ON THE EXCHANGE FOR NOTHING! It annoys me so much😭. This season has been enjoyable dont get me wrong, but the amount of nonsensical things that have happened has gone past my limit, I can't extend my disbelief anymore.

I love this episode. The Battle Royale was pointless with the turning competition, it was just waste of time. If the turning competition wants to be in the battle Royale, it would have been a group of people split into groups have one person lead the turns while the other person follows them in a circle across the floor to see if they can keep up; that's personally what I would have done if the turning competition would have happened. The Battle Royale would have been great if they all each were given a scenario and choreography a trio that incorporates with leadership. The battle royale would have incorporated a blinffold challenge since it requires leadership in guiding everyone so that they don't get lost or bump into anyone. The song for the turning competition was Wings by Vaness Alegacy in The Next Step Season 4 soundtrack. The transition song should have been Lost and Founf Music Studios song or any other songs so that the songs dont repeat throughout the episodes. Grace not voting make sense, she was not on A Troupe; why didn't they asked Pascale to be in rehearsal since she is an exchange program for Internationals. This would have made sense if Pascale was there and not Grace which we all know that Grace's mission is to make sure that The Next Step doesn't make it to Internationals. I like Anthony's trio the most it was completely clean, feels like a trio in unison. Ariana's trio started a trio and then it was more like a duet and a solo at one point. Izzy's trio brought hip hop in the beginning with contemporary; it was messy and it didn't feel like a trio. Ethan voting for Izzy to be dance captain is like Stephanie voting for Emily to be dance captain since they are friends. Ariana has to make a hard decision, I have feeling that Ariana will choose herself to be kicked off on A Troupe so that she doesn't have to have the pressure to kick anyone from A Troupe. I hope Kenzie is not gone on A Troupe. I feel like the Dance Captain vote is more about the dance being good vs the leadership. Olive telling Ariana that Ariana doesn't need to listen what Grace said, I preach. Niall's elimination to the turning competition was weird based on how it was recorded and edit. Ebby feels bad for not voting for Izzy is so understandable since they did tne care package together to send to Team France. I'm so happy Anthony, Eldon, and Nick showed up in this episode. I'm looking forward to seeing Season 9B and your reaction to Season 9B Trailer.

I don't think it was intentional, but in one of the recent TNS posts there's a picture of the team at Internationals, and you can pretty easily tell who's not in it. I'm so mad about it because I had so many theories about what they were gonna do and plotlines they could explore, but now it feels like a let down since they already revealed it, accidentally or not. I’m sorry but Ethan would not be a good dc. He has been selfish since season 7. Remember when he convinced izzy to do fouettes and knew they weren’t doing a good job so that he wouldn’t become alternate (he said it in his talking head) and he hasn’t apologized for it. Or when he stabbed Pete in the back when Pete asked Ethan to help motivate the small group. I’m not saying he is mean but I just find him constantly selfish and I don’t think that that’s a quality that suits a good DC. Also, it was nice that he voted for Izzy but he already got cut so that didn’t win me over🤷🏻‍♂️
