WHAT IF RILEY CHOSE ALFIE INSTEAD OF JAMES?

What if in season 4 of The Next Step, Riley went with Alfie on the little trip, and didn't go to London to see James? Would we now be calling her Princess Riley? Would Jiley ever reunite?

If all the Ralfie drama didn’t happen, I would genuinely like Alfie. He was a nice character, when he helped Michelle with her dancing. He was an incredible dancer too, probably better than Eldon and maybe even Noah. The whole Ralfie “situation” ruined both Riley and Alfie. I think Alfie is one of the most hated characters due to his relationship with Riley and there being a lot of Jiley shippers. Also him being a prince was completely irrelevant and didn’t have anything to do with the show at all.

He’s an amazing dancer but not to Eldon and Noah level all I’ve seen him do is that slipt in the air a back flip like he can’t properly tumble and can’t turn as much. He’s a bit like Jacquie, they are both amazing but always do the same moves which makes people like Eldon and Richelle better than the two of them.

I think you did a really good job with this storyline (as usual) but there is something I want to add. I feel like if the boys lost Bangers and Mashups, the season might be pointless and quite sad so I made up a little storyline of my own: After we see Riley go to the airport, James realises that she just isn't coming back. He tries to pull himself together in order to win the next two rounds and then he sees the door open an gasps to find Piper there to watch him. He runs up to Piper and hugs her as she says, "I couldn't miss the finals of Bangers and Mashups!" In his talking heads he says that he's gonna win this for Piper, who cared about him more than anyone else, and that even if he had just lost Riley, he still had his sister by his side. I think this version would be really sweet and let us know that James is ok after everything and that even though things went bad for Riley, James being a good person got a better ending. I ship Jiley but I like to just forget the 4th season even happened.

I feel like when tns has to forfit at regionals, richelle would go off a riley and start yelling at her saying that it was her fault that they had to forfit. Then afterwards Noah could go talk to her and say that maybe she was a bit harsh on riley. Richelle would say that this was her first year on a troupe and that she wasn't given a good enough chance because of riley. Noah would really sympathise her and say that he felt the same way when he first started in a troupe. I feel like this would be a cute nochelle moment because they always talk about how richelle and noah have this long lasting friendship but they don't explore it that much so I think this would just really solidify their friendship for that season

I feel like Riley should of had a scene where it's a phone call with miss Kate after all it seemed like before the timeline of season 1 they lost regionals either with miss Kate owning the studio or just with her on the team I think so miss Kate tries to convince her that you don't just win first time however Riley realises she should either leave for school or as you said audition for a-troupe again and dance but also get a standpoint for how to run a studio However Michelle or something is the one that convinces her to try for a-troupe Ultimately she's realise that everyone has left and it's time to move on from a-troupe because of the toxicity she associated with the next step although she has been forgiven

Season 4 is my least favourite season because of all the unnecessary drama. if the writers had just left Alfie out of Jiley, then kept Jiley as more of a background thing and focused more on Riley’s stress about being studio head the season would have been much better.

Ms Kate wouldn't have needed to sell the studio because they would have money and Nick wouldn't have taken over (sadly). Riley said that if they received the money 'they could pay for regionals, nationals and internationals for years' and michelle might have not left as it was emily saying that they should buy the studio which eventually pushed her to leave

To be honest I wouldn't have put Noah in Regonals dances, apart from the last one if he was really needed. I think I would make it so that Noah was a rather backround dancer, rather than someone who would do lifts, he would do some stuff with people who aren't lifted (Piper, maybe) Basically I didn't think that Noah should've been in so many dances in Regonals

Oh agreed, Jiley had SO SO SO much potential to be a great healthy ship and they definitely had those moments where I could see that potential shining through but the writers really ruined that potential with the way they developed them... I’m not saying I could do better but I do know there were definitely other ideas out there. It just sucks bc I want to like them but when I see the show and think back to how the show developed them, I get mixed feelings. 😕

Season 4 ruined Riley. I believe that season 1 Riley is best Riley because while still anxious and uptight she proved to be level headed, responsible and brave. In season 2 and 3, I felt like those qualities became slightly ignored and her more negativity qualities flanderized

I do agree to some extent. I think the thing that I really wanted as a takeaway lesson was “mistakes have consequences” and tbh that wasn’t shown at all unfortunately with James taking Riley back so quickly.. I wanted her to work and truly regret what she did bc as far as we know with Alfie, there wasn’t much she regretted and it just sorta made me have mixed feelings on them which is sad since I do actually really like their story and potential that could’ve been..
