Nice video Zed, the one issue I have had is getting the blade sharpened due to the curved blades. A short video with sharpening techniques for this style blade would be nice.

Question. Are these types of tools mainly for hard woods. I ask only because, some types of wood work cross grain. Great video. And this tool is new to me….
@Zedoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
H Danny, in general these types of tools are for working on green / freshly cut wood ~Peace~

Good man Steven, files do make good blade's, very underrated metal, but it's all in the heat treat, I've made all my knives from old file's and two mocataugans. Nice one Zed and atvb. Paul.

Oh wow nice I didn't realise you made your own Mocotaugans, i'm dead impressed as thats something I want to do do myself with an old file ~Peace~

@@Zedoutdoors Made them a few year's back Zed to see if I could, ended up giving them to a couple of friends as I had no real use for them at the time, but I intend to knock another one up as now it could come in handy.

Hi Zed. Great and inspiring insight into this special tool! Have you ever considered making a complete video on carving a long bow or native American flatbow? Maybe utilising a mocotaugan.(As far as I can see in your video collection, you haven't done one yet? 😊)
@Zedoutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Indeed yes I do have plans to film a tutorial on making that, alas these lockdowns in the UK have prevented me from being able to go out and film ~Peace~
@viggoblochmller61453 жыл бұрын
@@Zedoutdoors Okay! Well, I'll keep my crossed for the lockdown restrictions will get less strict in the nearby future. I myself is a novice bowyer from Denmark. Recently I have begun carving spoons and such. Thoose skills has taken my bowmaking to a new level. And your videos has been a great help and inspiration. I would really like to find new ways to carve a bow in more free manner without a shavehorse and the likes of it. Looking forward to new carving videos on your channel! ~Peace~

Very nice vid! While I don't think I could be convinced to use this tool over a shaving horse for a lot of the work here, I am interested in trying a knife of this design for smaller detail shaping. Thank you.
