i think for same compression ratio and heat rejection otto cycle is more efficient than diesel cycle..

In slide 29, at 43:48, it is informed that the thermal efficiency of Diesel cycle is greater than that of Otto cycle. However, the opposite is the true for the same compression rate. Diesel cycle is more efficient than Otto cycle because the Diesel one can operate at much higher compression rates (sometimes the double of those allowable in Otto cycle).

Moreover, to be more precise, term in the brackets (also in slide 29) is always higher than 1.0, so this confirms that thermal efficiency of Diesel cycle is lower than that of Otto cycle if both operate at the same compression rate.

Thanks for the lecture, I appreciate your help. But just a CC lecture may be more informative rather then reading slides. Can you please provide me a reasons behind following-- "Difference between Internal and external reversibility", "Why we consider constant volume heat addition in case of otto cycle where as in case of diesel cycle constant pressure "
