These are the best model lessons on KZbin. Thanks . We need a book with these kind of finger and frett makers, Modal Science perhaps a new take on chord chemistry 😊

Maybe for the time being make pdfs available on gumroad? Those are great shapes, but a wee bit small to eye-ball. Viewers could support the channel by purchasing the pdf when there is one. Your content is excellent by the way!

Such a treasure of information here. I only recently discovered your channel and I'm already a big fan. I love your playing and your teaching style. Thank you!

Yes, the part at the end did make sense! One thing that's helped me a bit recently is to learn the diatonic chords of the different scales. For example, if you know the 7 chord in melodic minor is min7b5 then it becomes obvious if you're thinking which scale you can play over that chord, to use the melodic minor a semitone up. I'm still crap at theory but videos like this help a lot. Instant sub, cheers!

For melodic minor gets VERY interesting because all modes seem to be a combination of a major mode plus a distinctive note from another major mode, for example: Melodic minor is like Major scale but with minor 3rd, then 5th mode of melodic is like a minor scale but with major 3, like a mirrorish thingy , 😮, then 2nd mode is a Dorian with the distinct phrygian note b2nd, 😮, then 4th mode of melodic is a Mixo with the distinctive Lydian note #4, 6th mode is eolian with the distictive b5 of locrian, like almost combining the different colours of 2 major scale modes, made sense on my head and helps me distinguish the “combinations of colours”

Hello Noel it's fantastic all the chords you find and play in each scale. However, in this video I've finally almost understood how to proceed ... you show the process at the end of the video only - use the scale to color a note of the basic chord, extend up or down the neck on the string of the interval you change ... By doing this, you work on scales and chords at the same time... of course, you need to name the intervals correctly. Thanks for your work noel !!!!! PS/ I had also looked at your other books ...but I speak very little English ( thank you DeepL ) and I was afraid that these other books would be more literary than Voicing mode 3,1 which is really perfect because rich in tablature and sofège . Thanks again for your thoughts and sharing on the net. Friendly virtual

What do you think is the best 6th parent scale to go with the 5. Major, Mel Min, Harm min, Harm maj, Hung min (dbl Harm maj) Neapolitan minor? What do you do for the 6th side of your dice? I would really enjoy those. Octatonic dim, whole tone, tritone scales?

For the 6th side I labeled it symmetrical/other/roll again. Lol. I was pretty sure on the top 5, but after that, it’s pretty open.

@@nohjoh08 I know what you mean. All the modes of of alot of other parent scales are not very useful but theres always a few gems in them. Thanks for letting me know what you labeled as the 6th.

I like calling the 7th mode Altered bb7 Altered means locrian b4 Alt bb7 I've heard it called ultra locrian and super locrian. Personally I like using intervals and names close to the intervals because it has an exact explanation of the intervals within the name.
@nohjoh087 ай бұрын
Agreed. I typically use the term Altered bb7 (or superlocrian bb7) as well. I use the term “Superlocrian bb7” in my Voicing Modes book.
