This sequencer is just genious! It would be great to be able to restart the sequence with some manual command to make repetitive short phrases easier. Maybe it's possible to set the sustain pedal to do that? It would be amazing

Thanks for this. If I’m using an external master clock drum machine, will Argon simply play its own programmed sequence? Also, if I were using an MPC One, could I use it to sequencer different tracks per preset on Argon if each preset was set to the appropriate midi channel? Thanks.

Hi, In 'Settings - Seq' - turn 'Transport' to 'ON' and ARGON8 will play its own recorded sequence when it receives the message. Also check the ARGON8 is configured for external clock / auto. You can check this in Settings / Clock Source - make sure this is set to either Auto or MIDI. The ARGON8 is monotimbral, so only one timbre, or sound patch, can be played at once.

If your sequencer or arpeggiator doesn't work, check the clock settings. It might be on "sync" (external clock). Switching it to "master" will solve problems.

Cool! How many layers of arpegios can be used? I am thinking of driving it using let say Roland RD2000 as my main piano using MIDI cable controlling the ARGON8 to enrich the sort of worship piano session. What is your suggestion of setting and ARP programming? Thanks!

Question: when I'm recording a realtime sequence, movements from the joystick (i.e. pitchbends) are not captured in the recording. Is there any way to get this working?

It is really a great machine. Too bad the rack version does not have the same controls at all. So, following this tutorial is all but easy. Overall, it's pretty simple but the seq is still completely incomprehensible. Anything but intuitive! When I bought it I thought the Argon 8M was the same as the Argon8 but without the keyboard. Nowhere was it mentioned that a good number of keys appearing on the 8 don't exist on the 8M. This wonderful video refers to 8, but what do you do when you don't have all the buttons shown? How do you transfer notes from the seq in live without the application for example? There are a lot of things we don't know how to do on the 8M and there is no explanation anywhere. Even the manual downloadable from the site only applies to 8. Do you have an 8M? Take care of yourself and thank you anyway for buying our gear! Did you want a clear explanation of YOUR synth? You only had to buy a higher version. It's not our fault that you don't have the dough. There was a time when everything bought had its detailed manual. Now pay and chao!

I'm reading online that the normal sequencer, not the step sequencer, should be able to contain 32 bars with a maximum of 512 notes, but in the sequencer settings there's a max limit at 8 bars....

I have a question regarding program change, is the. Argon will permute automatically to the second bank when passing the number99 on the first bank if your main sequencer just have 128 pattern

Does the Argon8 support sequence chaining and quickly loading sequences on the fly? So for example a 2 bar loop sequence is playing and I wish to swap to another two-bar loop when this sequence ends is there a way to do that?

Hi, no it doesn't support sequence chaining. You can although pre-load select another sequence and load it on button press. But keep in mind, this is in first a synth and not a groove box or hardware sequencer.

I’m seriously thinking of switching out my Hydra for this. I love the architecture of the Hydra but i mostly only use the traditional wave forms and rarely use the wavetables. The Argon has some functionality that facilitates creativity and variation vs the hydra is analytical in its design process.

I've got a hydra desktop and cobalt, great combo. If I want mpe I can use the pads on the hydra, or use the keyboard on the cobalt if normal at is right for the sound. Both amazing bits of kit.

Really helpful video, however I'm having some trouble changing the tempo of the sequence. If I turn the tempo knob, nothing happens, it just remains the same. Any ideas?

wait, I've realised what's happening. I have the Argon8M and I'm using it through a Korg Minilogue, and the tempo is synced to the Korg so I can only change tempo using that. Is there any way to change this yet still use the USB midi function to play notation?

No, the MIDI Clock from the Korg Minilogue is the clock master and dictates the tempo of the ARGON8M.

No, ARGON8 is not a multi-timbral synth. You can of course record the audio output in your DAW to layer and mix it there.
