For anyone using the Gunner Armor Expansion I'd highly recommend mixing it with the Combine-Like Gunner Voices mod and downloading the loose version. It adds a radio static sound change to all their voices, mixing better with the new masks they'll get covering their faces. They'll truly stand out now rather than sounding like tougher Raiders and this mod even changes Gunner Holotapes too.

It doesn't work on Xbox. I've tried to install a few audio mods (MW2 radio, distant warfare sounds, combine voice changers for the gunners, etc.) And it tanks my frame rate not sure why but I'm sure it's the audio mods. I've got halo weapons, armor (both standard soldiers and odst along with spartan) changed the institute coursers into halo Spartans, the brotherhood into the UNSC, and the gunners outfitted with the MW 2019 GROM armor. As well as having some other mods like power armor suits, real world firearms etc. and though sometimes my frames get small lag spikes it's not unplayable and doesnt completely freeze/crash my game the moment I have audio mods on and get into a medium size fight my game will completely freeze. Moment the audio mods r off it works again. Only audio mods that work were the ones to change the main menu music.

I'm really missing "Previsibines Repair Pack (PRP) Stable Branch" here when talking about performance, because this Mod is just a Must have i didn't know for a long time sadly. Also you could Mention Guides like "Smoothout" or "Performance Optimization Guide" which not only offer good Guides for Performance, but also a much more stable Game.

@@PanicLedisko I would say yes, but also, it depends. I try to reach 144FPS with 4k on 21:9 Monitor, so every Frame is a good Frame. But more important with all these Guides the 1% Lows greatly improved. Also I learned a lot more about things than installing Mods an calling it a day. I can now make a much better and stable Mod-List than before with just a few changes. If you already have good FPS with minimal Lags and also no Crashes, then maybe you can keep all things like that. But if you have time and would like to learn about how to get max Performance (and avoid bad Mods), these Guides helped a lot.

I've always wanted to use tree mods for Fallout 4, but never had the hardware to support it. Finally think I can do it with these mods. Hopefully it'll work on Steam Deck. Update: Works like a charm on my laptop!

I personally really enjoy the original raider power armor aesthetic, mostly the powerful look of the the cage that goes around the front.

In fallout 76 my character has mis-matched sets of power armor and I'm sure some players look at me funny when they see me with random raider pieces. What they don't know is each one of my power armor set has 75% damage reduction for specific enemy types, so my janky looking raider power armor ends up being incredibly tanky for certain areas/events.

Just putting a plea here for more setting friendly weapon and armor mods--I'm sure the modern stuff is popular, but it's pretty dissonant with the established aesthetics. You looked at The Charger Pistol once, and I think that's far more creative and in-line with the established universe aesthetic than the Modern Warfare rips. The Select series (which I think you covered as well) is also really good for its immersion factor. The guns feel like they belong in Fallout's "mad science" world. EDIT: To expand on this a bit, Fallout's aesthetic and universe can and should be described as "retro-future." A modern M16 doesn't fit that criteria because it is--well--modern. Seeing something in Fallout that would be at home on a modern, real world battlefield shatters the illusion it carefully crafts.

Is this the part where I point at the Marksman Carbine as a recent example, and mention that the Fallout aesthetic doesn't entirely encompass the realm of Bethesda's hideously bulbous and non-functional arms designs from 4? The retro-future aesthetic was always the exception, not the rule. The problem with contemporary weapon mods is that the textures are often way too clean and factory new, or they go absolutely absurd with the attachment systems. The guns existing isn't an issue.

Im super blown away with the Upscaler mod. I was genuinely skeptical when you said you were getting smooth frame rates in downtown boston modded playthrough. Put it in my heavily modded and am getting 90fps with a few drops here and there. Honestly life changing! I was already using shadow boost and high fps fix, so this was really the cherry on top for that! EDIT: It helps if I set the correct Upscaler settings. Once I had it correctly set to FSR2, my performance was even better. Pretty great!

Are there any mods that cause NPCs to react to you differently based upon how you're dressed - I mean, if you're wearing full combat armor with a mask and such, they should react differently than if you're wearing rags...

Search for flirty commonwealth and Npc proper responses to the hero, that are the ones that react the most to the player at least for now

I play with 300+ mods on 2060 RTX and get 100-80 fps outside with many trees and grass mods. 150-170fps indoors with lighting mods aswell

Good to see _A Forest_ was put back up on Nexus, it was taken down for a time. IMO it's by far the best mod for FO4 if you want a nature reclaiming the commonwealth feel to your game.

Another pretty cool one i stumbled across was one called Faction Reinforcements, basically making a bigger enemy at the strongpoints of certain factions. It isnt perfect, but it is pretty cool Okay i admit, i wrote this before you said it🤣

Chems, stim packs ect... any animation during combat will get you caught up & killed. But, it is more immersive that way. In my playthroughs those animations never showed up if I was in power armor. I'm guessing the mod will Remedy that. 😬

Yeah but that's kinda the point in power armor - you don't exactly have access to your skin or face when wearing power armor. I always assumed it's just done internally through a needle or something.

If only Bethesda bothered to integrate some of these improvements into their engine. Most mods come with a section that says “please give credit on mods you used this mod for”. Legally there is no excuse for them not using something that is open source. But nooooo, gotta reuse 90% of F4 art assets for the next fallout game.

I spent two days downloading and installing a mod collection. 120 mods in one go, looked and sounded amazing. Had to fiddle with drives that were too small but eventually managed to install it all. Only for the game to CTD multiple times minutes after loading in. Absolutely exhausting and now I just don’t want to bother with the game

I reinstaleld f4 using the midnight ride and added few mods on top of it, A Forest is one of them, love it, kinda make me feel like in fallout 76 world. So far 0 crashes and game load fast when going outside (is running on a M2 4.0 tho).

Ctd is because of bad cell edits in Boston commons aera, bethesda is aware of this, because I ripped them a new one, they fixed it on my game years ago, I guess they didn't fix it for everyone else

Fallout 4 is more of a fallout game then fallout 76 , even before modders made it better …. I wiped it of my pc and installed Fallout 4 again with all those incredible mods , where you can make it a true Fallout game like interplay and obsidian made them back in the day !

There are still mod authors who are making mods for the original skyrim (older version) and the same will happen with the original fallout 4 aswell. It's only the mod users who update their game that will break their own modded game.

Fallout universe as a whole has had a noticeable lack of creative innovations, with pipe weapons being the most noticeable exception. There's a lack of creativity in the universe and mech suits, and the Centurions definitely sound like something that would have been developed at some point. All we really need now is vehicles. Because progress does not stop even in the post apocalypse, its just different.
