Great craftmanship! I feel the radiator and the fans are underperforming, for two reasons. 1. All the hot air is blowing back on the system instead of escaping away from it. 2. The output air flow is heavily limited by the small gap between the radiator and the aluminum plate. Those can be easily fixed by flipping 180 degrees the fan/radiator stack so the fans are below and increasing the gap. Looks good keep it up!

Really nice, definitely need to address those small thermal pads on memory chips from factory. Once my warranty expires on my PS5 Ill be doing some changes for better thermals. Thank you for the breakdown in temperature.

Only problem is the contact point of the memory modules on the aluminum plate is round. That makes changing them pointless as you're not gonna increase surface contact by replacing thermal pads. Honestly don't know why Sony made that design flaw but whatever

@@NegaTive337 My best guess is that Sony made a REALLY close calculation on the original heatsink so that it's just barely able to cool the PS5. Liquid metal is a better heat conductor than thermal paste. When your cooler is just barely able to cool the chip, you need to move as much heat away from the chip as possible. Watercooling on the other hand is SO overkill for the APU that thermal paste is enough. Watercooling doesn't give the chip a chance to heat up anyways because it just simply has "too much" cooling capacity. The original cooler is made to save money and thus it doesn't cool as well. Therefore every tiny bit of improvement has to be squeezed out. Even if that means using a better thermal interface material between the chip and the heatsink.

It'd be impossible to add more RAM as it's soldered on. The system is engineered with the set amount it has in mind. As for additional storage space, luckily Sony will be enabling the M.2 bay soon!

@@edwardrichardson6856 It's a slot most modern computer motherboards (and the PS5) have to accommodate an M.2 form-factor SSD. If you're coming from a PS4, you might remember you could swap out the factory-installed 2.5" hard drive from an easily accessible bay under the removable faceplate for early models, and behind a plastic panel at the back on the Slim and Pro models that came after. Well, that bay isn't there anymore on the PS5, but in its place they put an M.2 bay for users to add an additional SSD down the line. It's a bit up in the air right now as to which SSDs on the market are compatible, but the option is there and we'll learn more as time goes on. Hope that helps!
