I would actually suggest a tutorial line this first before part 2. Part 2 covers lifts, which is an advanced topic. If you have had some practice with part one and understand all of it well, then you can skip the screw and go to part 2.

I bought a microscope on Amazon recently and one of the set screws for the microscope/screen apparatus was broken so it just flops around. Can't solder with that, so I'm using this tutorial to design a better one. Here's hoping I get it on the first try. 🤞

I have never used Freecad, but would recommend Fusion to anyone who considers themselves a beginner; Solidworks or Inventor for an intermediate or professional.

This was very helpful, thank you! I printed a scew but there were no threads on it. I was missing the "modeled", it was still cosmetic.

Exactly! Cosmetic is good for large assemblies where CPU power is important.

i am not sure why but after i click the xz then go to click line the back plane is showing ? I'm learning this program for prototyping etc. before putting my designs together for 3d printing etc

I am unfamiliar with this design, but you might want to consider using the coil feature, but then deleting the coil body and editing the sketch of the helix? Not sure. What I am saying is you may need more control of your screw teeth than you can get with the coil feature.
