Because you are showing us how to design with a purpose as opposed to just showing us how to doodle (using different tools) with no purpose! Fantastic Mohamed! Welcome to the channel. Be sure to find the revised version of this first tutorial in the basic series, this one is the older one, here’s the newer improved one:-
After having used Fusion 360 for about 8 months, I would still definitely recommend this channel for any beginners who have little or no experience. These tutorials have a good pace which covers the basics and quickly advances you to a functional level to begin working on more advanced tutorials. In all, these tutorials took me about 3 hours, and I was able to walk away feeling more confident about my ability to perform the fundamentals in Fusion 360 which includes sketching and basic 3D object manipulation (extruding, revolving, etc.).

I have very poor health and needed something to learn during “Lock down. Version 2” this knowledge will be a great addition to my 3d printing. Well I am know on “Part 7” and I can’t believe how I am picking things up. Learning the short cut keys etc. This is credit to the fantastic tutorials , they are so well presented and long enough to give you head a shake before picking up another tutorial. I am very appreciative that these are actually free tutorials and perfect for any beginner. I love the fact they are straight to the point , clear , concise and enjoyable. All I say is “ thank god for the pause button and rewind” 😂 I am intrigued to know if all these parts make something ? Thank you for sharing your knowlege. As a working CNC machine shop owner who invested in the software and spent an entire month trying to transition into it from another software... I found no good training availabe and was forced to revert. This was despite the obvious power of Fusion 360. I know it is superior, however the training available would not allow me to proceed with it. ( One annoying feture here is the ongoing and constant evolution of the software, I am working with the current version, and the functions change and move, I have a " Finish Drawing ", and no other, " Push-pull works differently, had to find it by right click. But, allow me to offer the first thing I did learn of great value: Keyboard commands as follows... simply push the keyboard letter to enter the function. Very elegant, these are the ones I know; Esc Exit Feature s Model Tool Box q Push-Pull f Fillet c Circle d Dimension l Line x Construction p Project cntl z Undo j Joint t Trim Some of these will come later, but make a cheat sheet and you will likely use these shortcuts. Using the keyboard seems quicker and easier on me than only utilizing the mouse. Ok, back to work here on the first drawing. My many thanks, Mark
@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion3604 жыл бұрын
Good work Mark, I'll steal your idea of a 'cheat sheet'. You'll get there, but give yourself plenty of time, program an hour or two daily for a month rather than the "all or nothing" approach. Fusion is very powerful but it does take time to master.

@@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion360 Well I appreciate that Arnold, I am disabled, screwed up surgeries left me with Adhesive Arachnoiditis, major nerve issues. 23 surgeries and growing I don't have the mind set to do things without writing things down. At one point in my career I taught the maintenance side of SAP, talk about the need to have a good memory. I can be looking at 4 numbers on a piece of paper and turn to the side to write them down and forget 1 of the numbers every time. I know you are thinking what a nut case I have run into, I don't mind one bit. It's the best I can do so I deal with it. Your method of teaching helps me, I also watch Paul McWhorter teaching Fusion 360. Sometimes I need a different pace and yours is snappy and quick which keeps your attention. I'll take some time and watch yours over again and then pull up Fusion to follow along. I subscribed to your channel so don't count me out, I'm used to being at the end of the line. You have to deal with life so it helps you and keeps your mind sharp. Looking forward to learning all the lessons.

Yes Andrew, I worked on Sketchup for five years full-time as a residential draftsman and loved it. When I changed to Fusion 360 I became aware of the strengths and weaknesses of both programs and I think you'll have the same experience. Any small and mechanical is better suited to Fusion 360 which includes most of what you'll be printing unless you're after figurines etc.

Can you start with how you setup the Sketch Palette menu? Its quite difficult to follow along something when I don't have the menu that you use. I really appreciate your training. in practicing, on part 1, I put the cicles in on the initial sketch. when extruded, they became the holes. But I was not able to add the concentric constraint. went back to edit sketch, but at that point there was not a filet to select.
@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion3604 жыл бұрын
Hi b? Yes, if you want to make a fillet concentric with a sketch circle, they both have to be sketch entities within the same sketch. Or existing geometry can be referenced with a sketch as here in tutorial 1. Never mind, the value in these tutorials is in following rather slavishly for some time (click by click) and varying things when you have the confidence later.

I came back to draw from the beginning, my screen doesn't look like your screen. The drop-down under create has many more options. It took a long time to find the TRIM tool. When I dimension I click, release, and pull out but sometimes I have to fight it to turn blue to enter the MM or Inches. I get messages that I will "over constraint" if I continue or press OK. It's not a big deal because I do eventually get the same results as you do. I'm not kidding at all when I say I want to be successful learning this program. I can look back at all the programs I have attempted to learn and found myself looking a screen with a circle or line that would not move or dimension, etc. It constraints me not knowing the constraints looking back. Thanks for sharing this knowledge with us. Maybe I should draw a rectangle and practice dimensions until it clicks?
@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion3604 жыл бұрын
Paul, there are a lot of things that are frustrating you but trust me, you'll look back and laugh. It won't hurt to work through the 16 again, one or two new things will stick, plus you get a bit more familiar and you keep learning. Don't overthink it but just look around when those overconstraint warnings come up. They're there for a reason and soon they'll be your friend.

She uses Sketchup which has a free version and a browser version and although its different software the methods will no doubt translate to Fusion's sketcher if you have learned a bit about it.
