The '67 GTX..or Gittix, as it's more affectionately known, is one hot car!
On today's Monster Hobbies Model Car Garage we will be looking at the 1967 Plymouth GTX Hemi Model Kit by Revell. This is a model car unboxing video.
In it's hayday, this muscle car version of the Plymouth Belvedere was equally at home on the street or the strip and a quick glance under the hood tells the whole story.
The '67 was the first Plymouth to wear the soon-to-be-legendary GTX moniker. Equipped with the Super Commando 400 V-8 or optional 426 Hemi, the deceptively clean but simple looking Plymouth made it's mark as a no-compromise street racer. The special blacked out grill and twin scoops gave it the look of a car to be reckoned with.
Of course it didn't hurt to have a few big names like Richard Petty and Sox and Martin lending a bit of credence to the new kid on the block. With repeated NASCAR wins during the 1967 season to beef up the car's reputation, Plymouth definitely had a winner on their hands among the young fast-car crowd which was just beginning to emerge.
The Revell 1967 Plymouth GTX Hemi model car kit is an amazing model kit with a high level of detail.
Coming out in 1994, the 1967 Plymouth GTX Hemi Model Kit by Revell was designed to compete with AMT, Monogram, Lindberg and the detailed models from Japan.
The big HEMI 426 consists of 19 pieces and a decal for the air cleaner. These parts include the chrome air cleaner, alternator, valve covers and carburetor, as well as non-plated 2 piece engine/transmission block, cylinder heads, exhaust manifold, front cover, oil pan, intake manifold, fan, fan belt and pulley assembly, distributor, coil, and starter.
The 1967 Plymouth GTX Hemi Model Kit by Revell also includes and interior made of of separate side panels, floor console, dashboard with dashboard top, dome light, and front bucket seats with seat backs.
An interior and paint chart fill out the easy to follow instruction sheets. Correct Chrysler Corporation paint codes are given so that you can visit your local automotive paint store for a true color match!

The "severed" section of the *plated* tree is due to a second iteration of this kit being produced in *1995* : the Sox & Martin Super Stock Belvedere . That kit includes ( it's been reissued ) Keystone Klassic wheels ; 7" drag slicks ; 'RO23"-specific hood scoop ; 'Rat Roaster' intake manifold ; headers ; Hurst T-handle shifter , and ; 'RO23"-specific air cleaner (hence , the round indent on the underside of the bonnet). Two issues with this kit (and only a Chrysler fanatic would notice them) : 1.) Incorrect rear axle . Should be a Dana 60 ( the kit's 8.75" axle is acceptable with an automatic transmission) 2.) Engine cooling fan . Should be a 7-paddle fan with a clutch ; *not* a direct-drive 4-paddle fan as represented in the kit Other than that , it builds up nicely . The 2-In-1 version from c.2000 is the best version , as it includes all of the components to build a stock or racing version .
