I painted the model car that I have been working on - the 62 Buick - then had a catastrophe. I then found a solution to the paint issue, and am ready to repaint it. Check out more hot cars at www.bryansworldofwheels.com

Awesome tip, thank you for sharing. I have thinner from home depot, same as the testors stuff, only stronger so it dries plastic which makes them brittle & break. I don't have any testors stuff, but I guess I can try to use it on one of my kits that was given to me to strip the stubborn green paint. Also, just a tip, sometimes you might have to soak the body for months & use a toothpick to rub out tight spots & a popsicle stick to rub out stubborn spots. Kutgw, peace!!

you gotta be careful with this method. i learned this back in the early 90s and quickly realized this will soften the plastic and or make it brittle. still a good tip for builders who need a quick fix.

An easy product to use is Dettol (one source is EBay at 12 to 15 USD - some with no shipping). Its made in Egland. Its a bacterial soap for first aid etc. You mix it with water at a 1:1 ratio. Poor it in a plastic or metal pan large enough to cover the model in. Let the model sit for 8 to 10 hours. Then scrub the model to remove any remaing paint. Rinse with warm water and dry. Suggest using gloves. When done poor it back into the bottle using a fine strainer. It will strip both enamel and acrylic paint right down to the bare plastic. It doesn't bother glue or putty. I have used it on two models with great success. Its a miracle!

Ive just stripped my 87 clod buster down and have put the tail gate in Dettol. Been soaking for 2 hours now hoping the paint falls off in the morning. Great tip!!
