One of my grandmothers had the very last of the really huge Continentals, a 1979 sedan in gold with gold landau roof and gold leather interior, a beautiful vehicle.

I have a soft spot for Continentals. I had an 82 and an 84, both a vast improvement over the Cadillac they replaced. My brother has a '17, which is a phenomenal car and woefully underrated. You always do such a great job with your videos, and this one is no exception. Thanks for your efforts, and rest assured, they are appreciated!

You’re videos are much appreciated, thank you. The 2020 continental was imo a mumble design, there just wasn’t pride or heritage in the design….. the greenhouse was chasing after something, just not a Lincoln customer -

I live in Australia. I have always been fascinated with American cars as in Australia when we were manufacturing vehicles here [before GM and FORD killed our car industry!], they were always taking design tips from the USA. However, the USA cars could never be sold here as they were never made for Australian conditions and would eventually fail on all levels. Having said that, it is very interesting to see how one model of an American car [LINCOLN] had gone through so many changes over the decades. I have always loved the LINCOLN CONTINENTAL model that sadly JFK was killed in :( These models I grew up with and were never sold in Australia. If they were I would have still been far too young to purchase any of them. Thanks so much for creating, compiling researching and posting this clip. Well done mate! :) DM.

It used to be a big deal to me to go to our Ford dealership and dream about someday owning one of these land yachts. At least gas was cheaper back in those days ha ha.

I enjoyed the video. Thank you for doing the video. Thank you for the details about the car. Excellent video for the footage as well. I was watching noting you checked all the boxes with this video. The 1988 Lincoln Continental influenced the Australian Ford LTD/Fairlane in appearance. The 1982 Continental was supposed to be the Versailles. It did not turn out that way. I liked the fact you mentioned the Taurus influence. It was true. I also noted how you talked about them all in detail as well. I look forward to more and thank you. Excellent work once again.

Thank you for this ! I believe the true production numbers for the Continental MKII were closer to 3,005 (including pre-production and test vehicles) built over the two model years of 1956 and 1957 (2550 for 1956 and 442 for 1957. Two serial numbers were not used). Thanks again.

Great content, very well done. Since Lincoln stopped making cars they no longer have anything I desire; I believe we are witnessing a slow death of an iconic leader, such a shame.

My dads last car was a huge 79 Town Car. It was very comfortable & road like a dream but sadly, it lacked the power of the Lincolns of the early seventies. I drive an 18 Continental & love it, it's got plenty of power & gets decent gas mileage!!! 👍👍🙂

always loved the Continental particularly the Mark series as an uncle of mine had a used Mark VII designer series when I was a little girl the car was Champaign beige and Ivory don't like white cars/interiors SUV's started to get popular in the 90s. and have only gotten more popular since the first Luxury SUVs were the Cadillac Escalade & Lincoln Navigator released for the 1998 model year the Escalade has sold around 650,000 units in the US since its debut making it the 3rd best selling model in Cadillac's history only behind Deville and Seville which sold 5.3 million and 1 million units respectively in their production runs 46 and 29 years respectively. the average price of a new car in the US in 1976 model year was 4,160.00 the Seville cost 12,479 similar to a BMW 3 Series the production of the 3 series is similar debuting in the US for the 1977 model year MSRP $8,000 + taxes title license registration state inspection and Options

I bought my beautiful 2000 Lincoln LS & still have it, showroom new looks & low mileage - my commute to work was 5 miles round trip & retired in 2003. Love the car more than any other I've had - especially a disaster 1972 Mercedes which ranks as the worst most unreliable car I've owned. Thanks for the video

My favourite movie with a Lincoln was 'Goldfinger'... the car crusher scene where a Lincoln (and victim) gets squashed into a small cube and hauled away in a Ford Falcon wagon to be have his gold separated from the "late Mr. Solo".

It is unlikely to bring back 4 door convertible with center opening doors as of 1961-67 Lincoln Continental models and so does 4 door regular sedan with center opening doors, along with 1967-71 Ford Thunderbird. They have planned to revive the 1977-79 Ford Thunderbird 4 door sedan with center opening doors, but it was scrapped.

The 1980 Lincoln Town Car, when equipped with 351 engine received the Motorcraft variable venturi carburetor, not a 4 barrel. The 1995-2002 Lincoln Continental received a brand new platform (chassis) sharing NOTHING with the Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable. The 2000-2006 Lincoln LS was produced on a Jaguar chassis, (Ford owned Jaguar for in the early 2000s) replacing the Lincoln Mark VIII. Please reply. Dave...

I will have to take your word on the 95 Continental Platform. You see the LS as a personal luxury?
@daveridgeway2639
@daveridgeway2639 Жыл бұрын
@@thehopelesscarguy I see the LS as Ford taking a shot at BMW. I am 63 years old and I was a mechanic at two Ford and two Lincoln-Mercury dealerships. When you raise a LS up on a lift, you will see BMW technology. The eleventh generation two seater (2002-2005) Ford Thunderbird was the same car as the LS, as was the Jaguar (at that time). I see the Thunderbird as personal luxury, but I'm not sure what I see the LS as. I hated to see the Lincoln Mark series discounted. Everything is going to four doors now! Dave...

Killed by 1. the 1973 fuel crisis 2. being so laden with unique parts and features that they couldn't be maintained long term by third and fourth owners. Had to be junked. It all went wrong for these cars decades before the SUV.
