Using some CSGCombiner nodes would likely improve performance greatly. The official docs recommend this, as multiple smaller CSG trees are much more performant than one large one.

3:30 in Blender you just press s+F (s+~ in 2.8) and fly/walk and yeah it also much faster to export whole scene from Blender - since Blender is already a part of your brain, so modeling is take no time, but you have to refresh scene in Godot manually by hand after that (as far as I know) but anyway, having our own "bsp brushes" is nice :)

Is it possible to bake a CSG mesh? That way the CSG operations don't have to be done at run time, so it should be faster.

I think not right now, worth checking. Being able to bake and export them would be nice, so e.g. 3d artists in a team can get level prototypes and do proper modeling over them. If it's not available yet I bet someone will add that sometime in the future

I was checking that out yesterday, the answer is no. There is a Github entry saying that is something to be done for Godot 4.0.

A tutorial about how to use BakedLightmap would be nice, its the only way to lightmap if you want to develop for mobile.

When Godot will have occlusion culling? It lags so much.

The lag in this video has nothing to do with lack of occlusion culling, but rather stems from using a large, complex CSG tree. Processing lots of nested binary mesh operations is expensive.

The lag was a problem with my recording settings, it's already fixed in the upcoming videos. Sorry about that.

Is there a reason the games you played looked like it had terrible frame rates? Is that just recording or is it CSG has bad performance?

Guilherme's computer doesn't handle encoding and running games at the same time. The CSG itself isn't optimised but it should run okay as it's just a small scene

Falto una explicación de como asignar las texturas, y como controlar su apariencia, que pasa si la forma cambia, se quita o agrega, si la textura se deforma o no, si esas formas pueden ser exportadas como archivo y editar con Blender !!!

I wonder, a year on, how many people actually use this in their work flow. I played with it when it came out and then never used it in anger. Hard to know if I'm a typical case but I suspect I might be.

It's probably just the recording. I've had the same problem. Had to switch to NVENC.

hi everyone. can I save a CSG poligon as a mesh? Like a tire for a car? My idea is make a low poly game using only resourses from Godot (CSG, mesh instances).

Can you texture the CSG objects made out of primitives? It would be cool be use it outside of just prototyping but it wouldn't be too useful if you could only work with these simple white 3d objects.

Godot supports tripanar mapping so yes, it should be possible

If you want a good brush based editor that also has CSG operations just use something like Trenchbroom or sabreCSG or probuilder or something like that and export as a non-CSG model then import that model into godot
