I like how they ship the wings kind of together like that because I’ve opened up kits with bigger wingspans and had deep scratches dug into the wings. Obviously causes a heck of a lot more prep work! Also thanks for doing more review videos. You hit the nail on the head with that so thanks again for showing these kits to give us an idea of what we’re getting into before ordering them online.

I’ve also returned to building after an long (30+ year) absence.. the quality and detail have improved exponentially! So much so that I’m having difficulty with things like photo etch parts and the amount of super small detail parts!😂 my older eyes and uncooperative dexterity are hampering my efforts lol

Andy, Try the Bare Metal Finish, all you need is Krylon Gloss Black and Alclad 2's Polished Aluminum paint with your favorite FS 34088 Olive Drab on the exterior and it'll come out awesome just take your time on the Alclad, wait about 2 to 3 days after you shoot the Krylon primer base Gloss Black, also make sure your seams are filled and polished prior to shooting the Krylon, and it'll look great!

Something from Tamiya they have good value for money and they are easy to build but also detailed
@dusanbolek80044 жыл бұрын
Tamiyas are usually good, but lot of their armor collection is rather dated and it shows so better to pick up something more recent. Also they tend to be little more complicated to build. I would say the most easy good armor kits are some of recent kits from Academy. They really improved a lot recently and they are easy and fun to build.

B-17 vertical stab shape doesn't look right. Maybe curve of leading edge too abrupt, or chord near top too broad? Not sure. Also, windshield angle looks steep. For some it might be nit picking, for others a major deal. I can add detail and fake panel lines, but harder to fix major shape issues. Need to see the kit. Stay healthy, and thanks for keeping us active. BTW, you and John Moore have taught me more about tanks in the last 6 months than I ever knew before.

Think these maybe would be better retitled as 'unboxing'. Reviews kinda need the model to be built so you actually KNOW whether its a good kit, rather than assuming.

It's all about a detail level and production quality, both this things can be seen without actually building a model.

Because its there , many modellers enjoy doing interiors as it brings them deeper into the subject and provides a human connection. You can't see in most aircraft in museums a model with a detailed interior makes a real difference. I go to model shows with pen torch to get a better look in side. It is surprising what can be seen. A 1/48 B17 will reveal quite a lot.

@Jack Steward A model is not just the end result, its the journey through the build and the research. a detailed cockpit is part of that journey. I've the just spent over 20 hours of modelling time detail up the cockpit and aft compartment of a 1/72 Tupolev Tu-4.
