I always enjoy your videos and thank you for the insights, I have three engines on order the Benz three wheeler, H74 2 cylinder and the HM01 7cc when they arrive, at the moment I just have the 4 cylinder Holt that runs quite well except for oil Leakes, seems to be around the sump seal. Good day, thanks for the video. Just a question - have you tried to estimate the power of this engine in kW? Thinking on putting it in a custom vintage car model for my kid, but can't find the specs of this tiny motor.

Hi Alexandre, I cannot give you an honest answer on the power rating of this little engine. I would assume that it would need to be geared down quite a bit in order to drive a model car. Thank you for your interest and your question.

Hiya mate, know its a while since this video has been out but wondering if you could give me some help? Ive got this exact engine, however i cannot get it to start. I have diagnosed it as a spark issue, and i am unable to get any spark at all. Just wondering if you have any advice on how to to about diagnosing/fixing this. Cheers, Felix.

Hi Felix, start at the batteries (check the output) check to make sure you have voltage through the switch, if you have power to the ignition coil, check the hall effect pickup, unplug it and plug it back in (if it sparks, your pickup is bad (stuck closed)) if you unplug it and use a test lead on the coil side of the plug to mimic the hall effect opening and closing the circuit and have no spark, I would guess that your coil has failed. I hope this helps, if you have any other questions or if I can describe it in a better way just let me know.

Hi David, I like this little M12B engine honestly, I replaced the main bearings because of the amount of play (slop) that they had. If you are not afraid of getting in there and tweeking and tuning on the timing of the ignition, the camshaft, and the ignition I wouldn't have any concerns aside from the main bearings. I tend to over oil anything that moves, but it is easier to clean an oily engine than to machine replacement parts. Try to remember that it is a "scale" engine and all aspects still apply like power, longevity and maintenance. Much like anything, if you take care of it and don't abuse it, it will be there again tomorrow. Thank you for your question, interest, and commenting. If I can help with anything else just ask. @@davidlavergnelacasse2356 After a few refinements (in my best Thomas the tank engine voice) this has proven to be a really decent engine. In the video before our last one, it makes an appearance and gets right to work testing the generator on the showman's engine.

Has anyone figured out what the spark plug gap should be on these little gas engines? I’ve watched most of your excellent videos but didn’t see it mentioned, although I might have missed it. I don’t find anything elsewhere on the internet either. I grew up on small motorcycle engines and know what a difference the proper gap made on those.

Hi Wahoo, you're exactly right, I don't think I ever said anything about the gap. I'll go out and check on a couple of them. I know that I usually open mine up a bit but some of these plugs are, let's just say, less than decent to start with. The center electrode has been way off center on a few of them. If you get a chance to watch the video on the twin cylinder tractor, it came with a "custom offset" plug.

I came out to the shop and checked a couple of them for you. .030 .032 and .035 thousandths of an inch are what I have adjusted these to on 3 different model engines. I hope this helps you out, keep me posted 👍
