You need to wait more than 2 seconds to fire. The Bangsite needs time to dissolve prior to firing. My father has one from his youth, exactly like this one, and we played with it every Independence Day as a kid.

I think we should get it back off the shelf and test it further, if for no reason other than to have fun making some noise. What a great toy this is regardless of the age of the "kid" who is playing with it 👍

I opted to leave them out. In my opinion using hardened round balls in a brass slot to prevent rotation is a terrible idea. We all know what will fail first.

Very informative channel. Got my Enjomor running. But i picked up a cheap blue chinese engine ran great for a day. Then it quit. Will run for about 20 seconds and quit. Just can't figure it out. Spark is hot, fuel is good. Timing is just above TDC. Any thoughts? Thanks

Very little, but there are no provisions for an output pulley to test it. It is very easy to slow it down with your finger on the flywheel. No where near as much grunt as a conventional style engine with the same displacement has.

Sterling wants $390 for the kit and $400 for fully assembled ready to run. With 15% coupon, $331 kit or $340 RTR. For the trivial difference why would you get the kit instead of RTR?

Bonjour, I have juste received my H73 and unfortunately, despite hours of tests, I haven't been able to start it. I have a spark and a little compression (I changed the O'ring), more or less similar to my other hit and miss Microcosm engines. Il will buy another gas (using Essence F and unleaded 98 currently) but fear it won't change anything... Could your give me as an indication how much you open the needle valve ? 1/4, 1/2... more ? If the engine starts then stops after a few seconds (that happends on my other engines) should I open or close it a little ? Thnk you in advance for your advice, everything you say in your videos is relevant because I experience the same things. Amicalement, Raphaël

It is bewildering, Add oil or not? With rubber o-rings for rings, engine oil in the combustion chamber is assured leading to smoking exhaust and fouled plugs. I suspect the vendor is concerned about oil leakage complaints. My idea, put oil in swish it around or run for a few minutes, then DRAIN the oil leaving the residue as lube

I've left the oil in it, no leaks yet and it still fires right up and runs great.

Bonjour, Latest information given on my video : "The first copper-plated piston is a pump to power the engine (kind of volumetric compressor) and the 2nd is the engine with a slide valve which serves as an intake/exhaust valve, and the tank acts as a carburetor (air-fuel mixture)", This last point explains why my inlet pipe was not cut and I use a special gasoline called in France "essence F" as it accepts different ones. That does not explain where this e,gine come from and the lack of compression without ignition... Hit & Miss...tery 😁 Amicalement, Raphaël

ll these kits I've seen so far produce a spark for every revolution, wasting battery power in slow mode. I'd like to see one what works like the full size engines, which only spark when it's on compression strike with the exhaust valve closed, like the full size magneto ignition engines do.
@steam212
@steam212 2 ай бұрын
This model does not fire every revolution like most of others. It closes a set of points to fire the coil only when the governor releases the lockout for the exhaust valve to close. Much like a full size engine but instead of a mag being tripped it fires the ignition coil. I hope that makes sense? Thank you for watching and commenting 👍

Love the Channel, over here in the UK many years ago there was a device which was basically a mug with a heating element which worked on 12volts dc which would make a mug of coffee using a car 12 V supply, this could be about the correct size for the boiler, if you could ever find one ! That Heater Element... well, I can't offer up any suggestions, but at least we aren't in the UK and trying to play with Esbit Tablets! Seems like Parliament is requiring anyone trying to buy Esbit to get a license first! Will keep an eye out for your next installment on the Donkey Engine... I wouldn't be too concerned about the knobs matching if you decide to just clean the engine up as opposed to making it all pristine and new looking... sometimes the looks of an engine that is serviceable and operational has a charm all it's own even though the colors clash.

I think you were on-point about the ring groove depth! That would definitely be losing compression, considering the amount of side play the rings had in that original piston. Between the tighter ring fitment, and higher compression ratio, that thing ought to pull the house down (with enough gearing!).🤣 It sounds really good there at the end, with some extra timing, etc.😉 I wouldn't try to slow it down too much, considering how small of a bore you've got. You're probably dealing with a couple cubic inches, max?

It just shows almost anything is possible with hilariously scrap parts with a creative mind. There's a more 'refined' version of this 2-stroke design on EngineDIY (sold as a 'hit and miss', but its not), with a separate displacer cylinder and a 'see through' combustion chamber cylinder, with almost all metal parts, that also uses a glass vapour fuel tank. It spins a 'lot' faster at up to 6000rpm. I wonder if its related to the Brayton Ready Motor design. Thank you for posting this particular engine. I spotted it a while ago, someone had to take one for the team!

Now that IS hilarious!😂 Who would have thunk that hole in the power cylinder feed line was intentional? I'm assuming it's a 'vapor' engine (i.e. it runs off the vapor from the fuel in the 'tank'). I don't see any actual liquid being drawn from the tank. Like a hit & miss, the exhaust valve seems to be the only controlled valve in the system, and the slit in the line lets most of the combustion pressure out, allowing more fuel to be pushed into the power cylinder via the 'pump' cylinder. Sounds logical, right? Looks like your crank trigger could be a little closer for more reliable spark? I've never actually seen an electronic buzz box coil. Talk about modern retro!🤣 A guy could probably use mechanical contacts and a Model T coil for the same effect, but whatever!
@steam212
@steam212 3 ай бұрын
You nailed it, it runs on the fuel vapors, and not atomized liquid fuel like a carbureted engine. If you click on the video link that pops up in the upper right corner, I did this to an H73..... IT WORKS! I fed it everclear (moonshine). Now that you mention the idea of using a Model T buzz box and a relay....... We'll give it a shot, I see no reason why it wouldn't work. You're exactly right, I did add water to the tray and continued to run it for another 15 minutes after I ended the video. It ran great until it sucked most of the vapors from the tank. That's just nuts! Maybe if you put a Tee fitting in the feeder line with a fish tank valve, you can get rid of the lacerated hole and get a little more consistency in operation... ... but, then again, we just might obliterate the absurdity of it all... hmmm Thanks for sharing this, I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard at a goofy engine since I started up a Chevy Stovebolt Six with bent pushrods and sent the entire shop class scrambling for the exits!
