I too have " dabbled " in making figures, using "DAS" air drying clay. Started with a Gumby type form and added and took away clay till I was happy with the figure. Then primed and painted it. Having changed scales I now use military figures which I strip then again add clay for the clothing, and scratch built tools for the workers. They do look very life like. Oh yes...your outhouse should go...where people have to " go ". Nice job guys.

That’s sort of like how Al made that figure that we show briefly. Mostly make 1:48 scale figures for the o scale railroad. And he would find 1:48 scale military figures and start with those. This one is a car figure but in 1/18 scale as I recall. Reworking it a bit smaller. I think he used squadron puddy.

For sanitary and health reasons, the outhouse should be at least 50 feet from and lower in elevation(down-grade) from the house and well(water supply). You MUST put the correct door window into the outhouse door.

That was very informative on figure making, I really enjoyed watching. When you spoke of belt and suspenders I thought of my Dad, when he was working he had no wast to speak of. It wasn't till he slowed down in later years did a belt work to hold up his pants. In his prime he was one of two men I knew that could load a 55 gallon drum of fuel into an airplane by himself. He commonly loaded the 30 gallon drum in and out of the Super Cup at remote mining sites.

I'd like to get my hands on several figurine parts so I can make my own passengers for some scratch built passenger cars in 1:20.3 . But I am trying to get things set up so I can actually get started including making molds of the figurines in metal to add weight to said P C 's . But ALL things are on the sidetrack because of the 100 + temps and the Really Thick Smoke . At the time that I'm writing this the moon is Nearly Blocked Out and what can be seen is Dark Red and that's not much .

A bit of an exaggeration. They are, as it turns out, China knockoffs of Prisler figures. $45 for 4 or 6, don’t recall from Prisler. $12.50 from eBay (China) for 12. Great figures! Which figures! They also have 2 sets of standing knockoffs as well. Also 12.50 for 12. www.ebay.com/itm/P2516-12pcs-G-Scale-Figures-1-25-All-Seated-Unpainted-People-Model-Train-Railway-/223643756501?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

There are some amazing figures available now in most scales - as well as some pretty awful ones! There's one 3D company in the UK doing OO scale figures and their range of "worker" figures amuses me greatly - not one of them is doing any work! They're reading newspapers, drinking tea, having a smoke - anything but work! ;-)

Interesting to see all the different figures. You should also look at the website of Modelu in UK, they scan real people and then print them in many scales. I finished sculpting my fourth figure in O scale last week, but I mainly use Fimo. I followed the tutorials of Tom Mason (look for his channel on YT). GreenStuff is great for details, but for doing the whole figure, the fact that the Fimo don't harden before baking make it easy to rework it over several days. By the way, GreenStuffWorld is selling the band with gap too, which don't have the issue of hardening in the middle (but it cost a bit more). As I don't use a lot of it, I still have half of the small band I bought last year, so for me it is ideal.
@ToyManTelevision3 жыл бұрын
That’s what Karyn uses. Or sculpy, mostly the same. I’ve been using green stuff for soooo long. But I really like building the basic figures in something else.
