Nice work! I think it’s great that you always say in your videos “You can do this!” It’s great that you tell all of us “Don’t be afraid to try!” Your videos about real railroads and the hobby of model railroading are very helpful. Thanks!

Yet another awesome Video for us to learn from! Thanks DJ... "Learning without thought is labor lost. Thought without Learning is Perilous!" Confucious.

Turned out great DJ! I love how the colors you used and the weathering make it fit in so well on the layout. It just works really well in that spot.

Thanks Steve. I am gonna try to make more buildings in this area. I struggle with making realistic city scenes and positioning buildings, so wish me luck, lol.
@StevesTrains Жыл бұрын
@@djstrains City scenes are definitely hard to do when you are trying to balance aesthetics with both realism and operations so you can see and uncouple cars and such. Plus they just take so much time and effort.

Haven't gotten into structures yet, but I am getting some practice in that stuff by modifying the Woodland Scenics vacuum so it actually works. So far very successful in making it a useful tool.

Great video and tutorial of building kits! You did a nice job and the end result was awesome! I've finally got my shelf switching layout done. Its U shaped and have the tracked laid out for what I've decided on. Over the last couple months I've bought buildings off Ebay that were built. Unfortunately I can't do them with my nerve disease. Since I met you at Strasburg it's progressed more. Once again, thank you for sharing another great video with us along with your PRICELESS time and effort! Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA.

it could use a bit of weather staining around the roof scuppers and there;s always a little rust staining around fire escape mounting points DJ!

Thanks DJ for sharing your tips on building a MR Kit.I would of like to see you putting the final of the clear windows,and how you do it. Please show more of how you do MR Kits. Until the next video, Happy Holidays to you and your subscribers,and Happy MR.
Good point about following a photo but not having to get an exact replica. Really only need to get it close enough to give the general vibe of the real life scene.. enough that someone would look at it and say ‘hey i know this area’.
@djstrains Жыл бұрын
That is 100% my goal. For so many years I drove myself crazy trying to model track plans "exactly like the prototype", but now, I just focus more on capturing the essence of the area.

I built this kit a few years ago. I used makeup sponges to apply the brick paint. That fire escape was a bear for me.

Remember not all bricks are the same color, some of those areas being filled in at different times , bricks supplied by different venders
