Hi Stephen you were recommended by a friend and now I am hooked. Sadly over this side of the pond we dont have cellars mores the pity so its either the loft, spare room or in the garage. So of course watching your build from the start and here is where I am up to so far, I can only look with envious eyes. Loving it all so far, the layout looks fantastic. Oh how lucky your boys are to have a dad like you, my son is into wargaming but I will work on my grandson. Just thought I would let you know you have another admirer and looking forward to watching some more of your videos. Regards Chris

Thanks Chris! BTW this is actually Rob, I am Steve's father and the one doing the lovely (and babbly) narration and layout work. Steve has moved on to other things- his own house, working on his Mustang and Dodge Diesel truck, etc. Thank you very much for the kind words and I hope you enjoy the other videos!

I love the backdrop.I grew up in north-central Pennsylvania. The backdrop looks very much like home, with its mountains, valleys, farms, and forests. Great job. ...Roy

Align up backdrop from the bottom as previously stated also a laser level would be ideal or you could snap a chalk line around the room , as in all things preparation is the key . That being said a good effort and overall excellent effect . I would be more than happy with the results

Even with the installation issues of the backdrop, I think it turned out great! Keep posting your work/progress.

Amazing planning to put the backdrops up first,,, more often than not backdrops come way down the line,,, I can imagine that was quite a tricky job,,, but it looks great from bench to ceiling ,,, well done ,,, Alan

Yea, putting the backdrop on was a very tricky thing to do, but once we got a good strategy on how to do it, finishing it was not that bad.

Great work. One thing ... please do something with that bolt in the lift out opening of your Transformer factory. Every time I see it I cringe as I imagine somebody cutting their head open on it as they pop up through the opening.

Fixed! Good catch- went back and replaced with a shorter bolt. Thanks for the tip!

Great job, Most of your so called back droop issues will be easy to hide. A tree a building or so on and no one will know its there. Looks great!

Hi Stephen, great backdrop! I didn't catch the supplier's name. Can you repeat it please? Thanks. Your layout & videos are great

Back drops are easier to do if you line up the bottoms instead of trying to line up the tops

Great backdrops! I heard you say they were 6' long. How wide are they? 4'?

Why did (or maybe you did) you mark a line according to the bottom of the prints. It gifs you a exact horizontal position. Don't trust the walls or ceiling as a reference. If you measure the line to the ceiling than you know how much you have to cut from the top of the prints.

I don't mean to be rude or nosey but how much did it cost for all that backdrop?
@robbennett196510 жыл бұрын
No worries- I believe in "full disclosure" so others know the details. The entire backdrop cost just over $1300. A LOT, I know, but to me a photo backdrop is preferred over painting it ourselves, and it is a fair amount of backdrop. If we tried to paint it we would still be doing it, and it would look like a 3rd grader did it! So we bit the bullet and went with a photo backdrop. Thus far we are very happy with it.
