Always humble and understated. A true aristocrat and gentleman. His programs fueled my love of railways

Super song by the first generation of “Kings Singers”. RIP Bob Sykes. My inspiration with programmes like this when I was on study leave from College.

Bobby... Griff here in Texas... I'm a jazz musician and when I heard the close harmony of the train song patter I was thrilled to hear it. So wondered who the folks were....Thanks! That type of singing is so hard to do. They even manage an altered chord just before the end...we don't hear or see this kind of show anymore... live in the 50's in my head- the time in which we grew up with our Lionel trains.

I'm American and I always ask myself why can't there be shows like this in American other then the once in a while PBS shows popping up. This is why I will always dream of living in the UK

You and me both Bro.... anyone in Britain can score a ride on a fan locomotive without having to drive 1/2 way across the country... of course there are logistics to deal with here.. we grew up in the 50's and heard the mournful whistles every night - hurrying Dad up to sync the time of us going over the viaduct to collide with the smoke from the T & P Loco passing underneath...... swell days.

I think Americans dont care enough for quality living like too much crime and drama and public news TV must be informative.

Yes, I can confirm we did actual have haircuts exactly like those soon in this programme - I especially liked the side parting with the start of a comb-over happening while the sides and back are collar length still with a smarm of Brylcream.
