Commentator explains the models are competing in an international championship and introduces competitor Monsieur Boussey from Paris, who checks his steering mechanism and carries his yacht to the water with another man. Peter West from Southsea is seen adjusting balsa wood fin on his model and Ronald Jurd checks his yacht as we tilt up to show the sails. Peter West launches his yacht; C/U of the steering mechanism (operated by the wind on the sails) of a model still on dry land.
M/S as two men simultaneously launch their yachts and they sail along the lake. M/S from further away shows a boy sailing his much smaller yacht on the lake. C/U and M/S of the yachts sailing. Great C/U of an old woman in headscarf and cardigan knitting, with a resigned look on her face.
More model yacht shots; they are raced in pairs over two lengths of the lake. An old man watching passes his binoculars to the man next to him for a look. Model yachts are launched and seen sailing; C/Us of a young boy watching intently; white bearded man in a beret doing same.
