WG~, Nice tutorial of some really good quality-looking trees. Great video, easy to follow along with. I like how at the end with the overhead lighting the scene really is starting to look like a great night scene. Can't wait to learn and see more sir! Thanx Thom...

Thanks! I can't wait to come back with the little "scale" lights posed really low.....I hope it comes out looking like the real thing

your trees look great. I'm wondering how to replicate in N scale. Thank you for sharing

The filter material is so thin, it might just work with smaller dowels! For O scale, I think the filter material would have to get bulked up with some 2mm static grass before getting the fine foam. Would love to see what you come up with.

Are you from the NorthEast(NewEngland.)? I model B&M, MEC, D&H, BAR. and early Guilford era. Also, photographed and model the CP International of Maine Div.(early 80s), during the MLW era. Your trees resemble pines from the state of NH and ME, very well. The White Mountains of NH and the Moosehead Lake area of ME are 90% full of Fir, Northern yellow Pine and White Pine, making The "PINE TREE STATE" live up to its name! If you're a Pine tree Fanatic, you should get yourself up to these areas, mentioned above, if you've never been. Also, I'm asking when drilling the dowels, do you pass 2 to 3 wire strands together in one hole? Thanks, Marty B.

I'm in Troy, NY. We don't have many pines right here but as soon as you get up in elevation even a little along the B&M, there are plenty of pines. Yes, I was drilling a lot of holes, and through each, I'd push 2 or three wires so the furnace filter material had at least two points of contact to keep it horizontal.

@@WilliamCGill Bill, thank you for your reply. Visited Troy many of times. I'm located north of Boston and spent many weekends up in "The Pine Tree State" of Maine. Back in the mid eighties, I would chase freights during the early Guilford days thru Pawnal, VT, west to Mechanicsville yard, then to the D&H. Exciting days back then! Much has changed, with NS and Pan Am Railways running the B&M. I grew up with the B&M, Buddliners, GP7s, GP9s and SW switchers, were the norm. I certainly miss those days!!
