In this month’s Research Seminar Series, Dr. David Quesada discusses the challenge of understanding how diabetes develops alongside other health problems, especially among Gulf War veterans.
Dr. Quesada and his team noticed that diabetes often shows up alongside issues like high blood pressure and cholesterol. By studying these connections, they hope to uncover how diabetes relates to factors like stress and brain injuries.
Using collected data, they created a computer model that mimics how the body handles sugar and insulin. However, challenges were encountered in ensuring the model matches real-life situations.
You're invited to join Dr. Quesada as he continues his efforts toward a clearer understanding of diabetes and its connections to other health problems.
