I've seen alot of these short story videos but this one hit close to my heart. I was given up for adoption at 12 months of age because I was dark skinned and my mother was mixed with light skin..I'm 49 now doing very well..I've raised 2 sons and 1 was dark and 1 was light and I love them both very much!!.. She missed out on a great daughter!.. I've never been to jail, I don't drink, I don't smoke and I'm very well loved and liked..I appreciate this video because you would be amazed at what dark skinned women have and do go through..Be kind to everyone and blessed evening!❤❤

I'm from Central Europe and when I was young I liked to draw people of different colours. Whenever I drawed the African woman I always choose the "Ebony type". Most of the figures were looking like Comfort bc she is the representative type for Africa (West and Central Africa) . I really don't know why some Black people are judging the lighter skin tone. It’s not just now. It’s been going on since slavery ended. People would praise their light skinned child because they knew that child would have more luck getting in close with Europeans. I organize my own modeling and photography group and one, of my model's, has dark skin and said that she's been through things like this. She's so beautiful and, from one of my group photo shoots, she's been published and received a front cover and 3 page spread in a magazine! Beauty comes in all shades/colors, shapes and sizes and if you keep a closed mind you miss out on it!

I supposed I’ll never understand the issue of different shades of skin color amongst the black community bc I’m not black myself. I also think my perspective might be a tad different or even jaded than most? My skin color is white as typing paper (LoL) and my best friend since 2nd grade is black and if I had to guess her shade of skin color it would be on the medium dark side of the spectrum like the model who is being shunned in this video. We are both females now in our 50’s who grew up in LA, one of the biggest melting pots of delicious people of ALL colors, races, religions, cultures.. etc. When people claim they don’t see color I’ve always thought that was the dumbest statement ever bc if you don’t then you must be blind! LoL It’s not about color anyway (or it shouldn’t be) when 2 people (or a group) connect with each other. Children certainly don’t think that way, they are more concerned about who’s going to play in the sandbox with them, they live in the moment and someone’s color or features don’t really come into consideration.. unless they are taught otherwise. Trust me, we’ve had our share of racist remarks spewed in our direction. Just a couple of month ago we watched a man cross a busy 2 lane highway just to inform me that I was a disgrace to my own race (what an original line) for hanging out with the “N” woman I was sitting next to. We were minding our own business sitting on the steps of a grade school waiting to see our grandkids perform in a play.. but we saw that jerk coming for some reason as if we could feel his negativity before he even approached us. We haven’t received any issues like that since we were kids in high school, maybe our first year in college and it mostly came from older adults. It feel like the world is becoming more and more divided and it’s really scary at times. Back to the subject of skin color and the shades there of.. when I think about my bestie, it’s what she has in her heart and her mind that attracts me to her as a person. My world would not be the same without her, I love her parents (and siblings) too and vice versa. We had tickets for a show last night but I got called away at the last minute so my friend went with my mom instead. LoL I don’t mean to make light (no pun intended) of this subject (different shades of black) because maybe it effects certain people emotionally but it’s truly not something I think about when I’m face to face with another human being. I feel like I’m very ignorant to this subject and need to be more educated… and by the way, the actress portraying the “shunned” model is absolutely gorgeous!
