This is the best way to do model shows on KZbin IMHO. To many tubers wave their iPhone across the displays and all you see is a blurry mess. Thanks for doing it in this format.

Thanks. I used to use my DSLR which does give better quality photos, but makes it a little harder to take them in the first place, in a crowded environment. Thanks for watching!

Yes, I was a big fan of the Dad's Army one too. Instantly recognisable but also original. I didn't get a chance to ask him where he sourced the figures. "Stupid Boy!" :)

@@ModelNerd The first one was of a north African theme diorama, approx 15 seconds in from the beginning. The second was somewhere in France ww1 approx 19seconds in. The final on was a sea scape diorama featuring a Bristol Beaufighter. I suppose I should get some light plaques for them?

Thanks Stu, I've be hearing a lot about this shoe over in the colonies and really appreciate you taking us there. Some incredible creativity and looks like some of you video followers on diorama building , or you had some in the show too ?. It would be difficult to go just for one day, I'd have to stay the whole show. Some of the entries looked like recent releases so they had to build quickly. Congratulations to all those people who entered. I'm still struggling on the Spitifire camo scheme :-) Thanks again for sharing, it is the only one I've seen of this years show. Cheers Bob

The standard of work is on another level, amazes me how they come up with great dioramas, from simple to that whole bombed out town, the attention to detail! hard to say which one was my favourite they were all jaw dropping, and the music just took it up a notch, someone correct me, but was it Wagner? As for me, its the second year running now i have missed it, due to working on the weekends.
@ModelNerd20 күн бұрын
It's great, isn't it? The bombed out street had so much both in terms of scale and tiny little details (you could look at it for a long time and still see new things). There was a diorama of a tank with a nun standing in front of it (it's in the video) which had a fantastic true story explained on the base. There were also some really well done aircraft in flight, dogfighting and dropping torpedoes. I actually didn't even go into the competition area this year, so hopefully somebody else will do a video on that. The music is Gustav Holst :)

I know the feeling! I try to focus on what I think makes these models so good - is it the composition, the weathering, the story, the originality, etc? Then I try to work on that in my models (not necessarily successfully!)

Many lovely models there. Getting the right degree of gloss/satin/matt finish seems to be tricky. No criticism of the modellers here - it's something that I often struggle with when it comes to achieving something reasonably realistic.

The Early Departure got me thinking... It's an idea I've had a while. All of these are happening in the day, or rather do not have the light and weather modeled. It'd be an interesting thing to actually model the light too. So if the dio is happening at night, then you'd have very, very dark paints and colours, since it's night. Or depending if it's modern thing, then you might paint it using greens and fluo greens and blacks.
@ModelNerd17 күн бұрын
It's an interesting idea - I'm not sure how well it would work but I have seen models done in black and white before and they looked good, so who knows?
@jaanikaapa692517 күн бұрын
@ Would have to use OSL and other miniature painting techniques. Even if not perfect, I'd think it would do well in an exhibit or competition due to the novelty alone.
