Thanks Kev I need to see if anything happens to it on air now or find a way to heat up the PTFE valve bobbins to get the timing right. 😄

Hi Julia, as you said previously, you really needed those stop-collars on the reverser screw. But I now think that full forward gear is too restricted, and that you could easily halve the distance between the bottom of the radius-rod and the bottom of the link slot, by adjusting the forward gear collar. Provided that there is no kick in the lifting links, full gear should be as full as you can make it, for easier starting from rest. But also bear in mind that a longer valve travel could find the valve-crosshead contacting those sleeved bolts, particularly at the rear where there is minimal clearance. Hope this is helping, and not just adding to your work-load !

Hi Derek the distance to the crosshead bolts is the limiting factor in full forward unfortunately. If I don't have enough travel I will have to extend the link that moves the valve by 3-4mm I'm trying to figure out a nice way to do that at the moment in case it's needed... Thanks for your advice 😃

To my untrained eye, the engine looks to be running very well. Like you I was using one of those puffers 40 or more years ago to clean camera lenses. Recently bought one of those ratchet tap wrenches, but haven’t used it yet. I’ll have to give it a test 🧐 to see if it’s any good. Cheers Nobby

Thanks Nobby so far so good. I'm in the market for a new one as the ratchet stopped working on mine. So let me know if you found a good one 😄

If you need to cut a bolt put a nut on first then cut the bolt file the bolt then remove the nut this will give you a straight thread

Hiya thanks for your message, I would normally do that but I think these were adjusted on the loco and aren't quite so neat 😃
