24:50 I think the argument for plusing Liliana here is very strong. Ulting lili is not playing around a removal spell because you have to draw a threat in order for ulting to be good and that threat is pretty much always going to die to the same spell that lili would (prismatic ending). Sometimes they even have something that doesn't kill lili but does kill your threat like a solitude or a jace/teferi bounce if you draw it later than the next turn. Ulting is a way to play around the second blue mana getting jace into play but either way you have to draw a threat so imo keeping lili around is better
@clancyjames5853 жыл бұрын
Agreed I was thinking this. And he got punished. His reasoning was thinking "how many answers to Lili does he have" but Reid did not think "how do I lose if I ultimate Lili" - and clearly there are ways.
@IntegralKing3 жыл бұрын
23:55 -- + Lily That seemed odd to me. He has 5 cards in hand, it hurts him much less. And if there's a verdict incoming, K Command would be perfect to scoop up the BBElf. Additionally, K Command is always a 2-for-1, so he's losing let's say 0.5 resources, you're losing 1.5 resources, all for a Lily point of loyalty. And Lily's at 5 already, so you can edict 2 more elementals on the way down. Yeah, all in all, I would have ignored Lily that turn
@artoosala3 жыл бұрын
I agree. The Verdict was coming for sure and KCommand would have helped to keep on the pressure. Obviously things might still gone differently without the land flood.
@SnapD243 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you. That's pretty much how I thought of it, but he had his reasons. I just wouldn't have bet on the top of my library as opposed to the Kommand sitting in my hand.
@lucarr10413 жыл бұрын
+ Lily gets her to her ultimate a turn earlier. It also frees up mana next turn if he hits action. Considering the high average card quality of the deck, it's not unreasonable to hope you'll hit something good in the next couple of draw steps. You're probably more likely to win if you ult Lily and play something like a Seasoned Pyromancer/Kroxa/Goyf than if you play K command as Discard+Disentomb and ignore Lily for another turn. I also don't think holding up the edict is particularly relevant, seeing as that's going to be face up against a Jace. It's a close call, but I think Reid's play was probably the right one
@SnapD243 жыл бұрын
@@lucarr1041 That's a lot of words to be wrong. The ultimate requires quite a few turns of things going wrong for the opponent as well as Reid not drawing garbage. That's a big bet on bad odds when you have a very good card in-hand already.
@ogolthorp3 жыл бұрын
@@SnapD24 a good but slow card. By the time Reid commands back, then replays BBE jace has brainedstormed twice and they’ve probably found an answer to the BBE, which they can just hold up mana for. Jund isn’t winning this matchup through card advantage, they’re winning by keeping the opponent in the back foot and applying pressure. Destroying 2 lands and keeping them off colors does that. Taking 2 turns to replay a 3/2 that might hit a relevant spell is not doing that.
@petzkuh3 жыл бұрын
1:19:00 - isn't the upside of hitting the Terminate much higher? you'll be able to tick up Liliana then, and be at 5 loyalty instead of 4 (if you edict first, then hit Lili and plus the new one) so 1 turn closer to that ultimate.
@rekenner3 жыл бұрын
45:30 - my thoughts (paused and thought out before you started your discussion), were Saga, Amulet, 1-2 Valakut vs the rest. I was considering just 1 Valakut because 2 Valakut + Saga is enough to activate Saga without a land drop. I think if I was in opp's shoes, I would have kept double Valakut, Saga, Amulet, but I'm not an Amulet player. But getting 2 karnstructs vs empty handed Jund doesn't seem like a bad place to be, post-board. It somewhat depends on what random value artifacts they have - but Expedition Map is pretty stock, so I'm happy chaining 2 Sagas and aiming for that win.

I think you should be using Ashiok on yourself mostly, especially at 49:53 against amulet, because you can mill a land for W&6 or mill Kroxa and be really far ahead here. Think that's way more relevant than potentially exiling a titan or two from the opponent's deck.

true! And maybe just slim down the curve a bit by adding some value rocks and urza's saga package. To make room for it maybe cut the BBEs and pyromancers, since our card advantage is better now. And since we're already playing such cheap creatures, might as well throw in lurrus as a companion since all we're really cutting is the lilis. 45:00 Saga itself is not too bad is it? He has 10 mana. I think you can split it in a way he can't cast Titan. Titan is almost instant lose. (as demonstrated by the opponent choosing the Titan pile over Saga pile) Saga you will have time. Also if you have his top deck titan stuck in hand, it also makes you draw live on thoughtseize, an otherwise dead card at this point (or Liliana for that matter). I think i will do 5-5 mana split. Green mana split from Castle. Amulet split from Saga. Saga split from stronghold. Stronghold from activating mana. Castle (no green mana), Saga (no free artifact), Valakut x2, Bog Bounce lands, stronghold (no red mana), vigor As for second question, will keep Saga.

the hierarch is low key bad because one of the strengths of this deck is all of the cards except the thoughtseizes are really good in topdeck mode, adding more cards that are bad to draw turn 7 seems really bad. voidwalker is pretty good, just know the not being able to block is kinda weird/bad for this deck that is very often a "control deck' vs the most aggressive strategies

One of the big problems with jund now is that 1 for 1 card effects are just not great anymore. You need to have some 2 for 1s now. bloodbraid is good but thats one of the only good 2 for 1 in jund. And with things like bolt unless you are trying to race 3 damage isnt as good as just plain destroy or exile. You said it yourself, you had to spend a lot of resources to remove 1 wrenn and six, with things like bloodchief thirst you couldve only spent 1 card. That 1st round made it clear where you went 1 for 1 a lot and were still down on cards in hand and cards in play.
