I watched these guys open for Roxy Music at NYC's Radio City Music Hall. It was the best of many concerts I attended in my 73 year life.

I was 22 back in 1982. Addicted to speed living in a rv on my friends property up on the san pasqual indian reservation. This came out and I loved this song. It reminds me of when I met my wife back in 1999 when I was 39 then in 2000 when I was 40 me and my w8fe had a kid now he's 23 working as a construction worker.

Great upfront bass work from Nic Denton (ex Living in Texas) who was with them at the time - glad the live engineer kept it high in the mix. Gives the song better depth in my opinion to cushion the other instruments.

The lead singer looks attractive in this version. Wonder when this was recorded versus the official video, say.

Just to be clear, this performance is from 1996. (I think some folks stopped reading the description at the 1982 date of the album’s release.)

Yeah, the fashion is definitely more mid-90s British. Wonder if there's a name for that hairdo?
@holyspacemonkey3 жыл бұрын
@@emileconstance5851 It might qualify as a Romulan ‘do!
@emileconstance58513 жыл бұрын
@@holyspacemonkey Haha, I would not have come up with that one! It is a distinctive 'do, that seems fairly specific to British fashion/music, maybe going back to '60s mods. Later it was adopted by Paul Weller, the Stone Roses, the Verve, Oasis, and many more (so it seems it should have a name). For some reason it never really caught on in the US.
@holyspacemonkey3 жыл бұрын
@@emileconstance5851 You’re right - it’s so 60s! Not big in the US in most places, but I have seen it around Portland over the years. Bob Dylan had basically this same haircut at some point, late 60s, I think?
@emileconstance58513 жыл бұрын
@@holyspacemonkey Well, if it was to show up in the US it would have to be in Portland--great city, I used to go to school in Eugene and spent a lot of time in Portland when I was living in OR. I haven't been back in years, but I'm guessing there's a good mix of interesting hairdos.

This is 9000 times better than the crappy radio version. You can't hear all the little details because the one guitar drowns out everything on the radio version
