Cause thats a good source of conflict, comedy wise. Claire is stern mom has Phil to cause all the problems/hinjinks. And Jay and Gloria can be funny just from the age and cultural difference alone, he can have old cranky jokes and she has racial or hot lady jokes. But Mitchel and Cam are the gay couple. They leaned into gay jokes or Cam being a moody diva jokes. But Cam causing all the drama all the time gets old, so squabbles and petty fighting bring room for more jokes on Mitchel’s side. I think. Also, the trope that gay people are like women and women are all sassy and start drama? Even Lily is sassy.

He hates Cam so much. He cant even his love for clowns or whatever that second item he disposed was. They are like the gay couple in Sex And The City, Stanford and Anthony. They got married because they cant stand being alone or they want to show the world that they are happy. What they both need is a straight man, which they can purchase in the nearest tent city. Love them though as characters, especially, the annoying Cam.
