I hate the term "child actor." It automatically assumes your career comes with an expiration date, which in many cases turns out to be a self fulfilling prophecy. The ones who beat the odds were the ones who were smart enough to realize that they would have to have actual talent to fall back on when they grew up. I am not seeing that from any of the kids from this show. No, creepy adults waiting for Nolan Gould to turn 18 does not make him a great actor.

I love her. She’s sweet and real. And her portrayal of Lily at all the different ages growing up was awesome. Lily was a well-written character for sure, with some of the best lines in the show, but all delivered with deadpan dry sass by Aubrey. Amazing for a child. And she totally held her own against all the adult actors. And not by being ‘cute’. Her back and forth sass with Elizabeth Banks’ character was gold! One of my fave dynamics in the show.
@TheStrangeKage8 ай бұрын
This was the worst actor on the show. and they had to cut around her 'performance' constantly. It's hard to watch.
@AngelinaThumbelina88 ай бұрын
If by "deadpan," you mean no acting skills. And if by "sass," you mean the stress she projected from always being in an uncomfortable situation doing whatever the grownups tell her to do, and with no acting skills, then ok.

almost every actor who started as a child says the same thing - being a child actor is not great at all. I remember Christian Bale speaking about it a few times. The stress, the very intensive work hours - especially on very demanding popular shows that have 22-24 episodes per season, usually the lack of time for social interactions with your peers etc - is no fun. Sure, you earn very good money, usually, especially if you are on a very popular show or in a great movie, and you have fame which you can always use to earn more money, but the negative side of being a child actor is big. And in particular, when you are doing it for money, because, for example, your family is quite poor and you as a child start to be the main source of income in your family. that was Christian Bale's case. There was this period when his dad didn't really hold a stable job, and his mom was just a circus dancer, so they didn't have a lot of money, and Christian started to be successful child actor, so he basically cared for the whole family at very young age. That is a trauma.
@perry55098 ай бұрын
I think on the one hand everything you said is true, but on the other you’re getting a short cut to long term fame and success. All that fighting that 99% of actors have to do as adults… you might not have to do any of that if you’re a child star. Even this girl, she may not be huge- but she has a huge credit under her belt… just that simple thing of people being able to say ‘that’s the kid from modern family!’ is going to get her picked over so many other actors
