Siva and Sakthi are like x and y in maths. Gender usage is only incidental to understand and not to totally attribute. For example if Siva is a person and when the person sings he is exibiting his sakthi to sing. All along the sakthi or capacity to sing was inside him or her or it and in fact Siva is above all genders and inanimate things but the base for all these. It is like Gold being the base for different ornaments, siva is the base for everything.
