I have had a ton of success with UB. The deck is incredibly consistent as might expect from a deck focused around drawing cards. And the payoffs for the deck work so well with its stall out game plan. Sneaky snacker and mindless conscription are just relentless recurring threats/blockers. Those combined with the Kami make for quite the obnoxious wall to get through. Not to mention the archetype has a sneaky amount of life link

Totally agree, but I think part of it is Blue having a very synergistic early game. Tune the Narrative/Tempest Harvester give you cheap energy, and draw triggers, while Roil Cartographer is a 1/3 that straight-up wins the game unless removed on the spot. Also combos super well with fetches, and I have drawn 3 off of Roil Cartographer on turn 3 multiple times this format. Usually with Tune on T1, Roil on 2, and Harvester/another Tune on 3 with a fetch. You get these pieces very late with everyone fighting for the RG Eldrazi scraps.

Essence Reliquary is my favorite card of the set. I think it's low win rate is largely attributed to having a tremendously high skill ceiling both in drafting for it and in piloting it. There are obviously too many combos with it to mention them all but you missed the best one! It lets you return Utter Insignificance to your hand with the exile trigger on the stack. It turns your defensive card that stabilizes you into your win con!

Really great insights. Particularly liked your comments on Amped Raptor, didn't think about it being a strong splash even later in the game. Also, sweet Reliquary tech, hoping to get some passed my way to try it.

About the black white common gold gargoyle , it combos with nesting grounds and doing that gives you a blocking engine that shrinks your opponents stuff , with the other great combo ajani fells the godsire in white (exile every turn or make a 2/1 and give vig every turn ) it can take the card from unexciting to a legit game plan

I undervalued gargoyle. It curves out so well with aerie auxiliary. Turn two, play two drop. Turn three play gargoyle, turn four play auxiliary, put counters on gargoyle and other creature, attack with a 3/3 flyer. Orvohv may not be the best archetype, but it’s very playable

I trohpied with a RB artifact deck where I had 2 familiars and 3 of the 5RR dragons, which honestly did a lot of work. Cheating out a 5/5 flyer turn 3 or 4 was rough for my opponents, but cheating 2 of them back to back or late game in one turn just felt nuts every time.

Really surprised you didn't mention pteramander for RB artifact. That late game mana sink is crazy especially in multiples

As someone that's trophied twice with RB, aside from Ram, Transmogrifier and Marauder are really the black commons gems. Ram and trans is 5/3 for ruest of game and pricing early sacs gets your damage in early.

you weren’t shy about the chrysalis and i still think you undersold it. that thing grows for *every* spawn you sack, which you’ll have a ton of in this archetype. it gets itself to 4/5 trivially but the longer the game grows the bigger it gets. and your opponents can’t even fly over it. absolutely absurd, this should be a 1/1 and make 1 spawn lol

Not even just on every spawn you sac, but also if you happen to sac any eldrazi to emerge and an accursed marauder for example, which is surprisingly relevant

I've had the worst luck with this format. I've drafted probably close to 10 to 15 times since the set came out and I've drafted multiple decks that are decently good to great and have went less than 3 wins on almost all with no trophies, which has never been the case in any draft format. Hell, I have a better win rate in Vintage Cube so I'm not a terrible drafter. But this set, it seems like I either flood out, get land screwed, my opponent has an amazing opening hand and next few draws, or I have a crap hand with crap draws. I literally drafted Temur Eldrazi twice in a row tonight and won 1 game out of 7. I know I'm venting, but idk what it is with this set that's just not clicking with me.

Same here. I was too far above a 50% win rate in OTJ for Arena's liking so it has mana screwed and match-upped me back down in the hope I pay real $$$ for more gems. Just how it works. Game is soft rigged.

I've had a rough start to the format too but it started clicking afterwards. Try to watch some drafts and keep at it, you'll have rough streaks playing MtG and they not always mean you are playing worse.

19:27 "When this leaves, you have to give your opponents things back." You don't. You gain control of them permanently. You only lose them because you lose all your creatures, but they don't get theirs back. But that being said, how often is Emrakul actually leaving outside of "the game is over"?

I played against chrysalis in a deck that didn’t even fully support it and it smoked me. The least amount of fun I’ve had playing limited in a while if I’m being honest. Commons should never be this good.

fledgling dragon is way better than you think. Your deck still needs to want a 4 mana 5/5 flier, but in some decks (like the red green edlrazi deck) its just a 4 mana 5/5 flier way more often than you may think.
