I personally think it is because of the way she speaks. As someone who lives in England, her accent sounds extremely American to me. The manner of her speech, however is quite proper, which honestly threw me off too at first, as I have gotten used to hearing a New York accent spoken in an informal/ aggressive tone. So yea, I don’t know if I just can’t recognise it, since a number of British accents do not register in my brain, but I do not hear any Britishness in her voice.

You might be inspired to actually take up some sewing if you watch Morgan Donner's rainbow version of this because she does it very simply. And then tie dyes the living crap out of it 💛 Also never refer to yourself as a peasant because the things you say to yourself begin creating your mental reality which attracts the same thing to you from the rest of the world. Not good self care my dear... Another less time-consuming option is just to find a nice linen or cotton sundress and Thrift flip it by adding some frillys to it

Behold this dress which is meant for frolicking and time spent in fields of flowers with picnics and books. See how is moves like poetry. Who can resist its charm? Not I! I hadn't even noticed the thumbs down, I was too busy being delighted. After reading your comment I scrolled up to check. I hope she is taking it in her stride because it's not worth it. When a video is seriously offensive, completely useless or dangerous in any way it warrants a thumb down, but Bernadette is charming, talented, and offends nobody, she doesn't give bad advice either. She even treats her pet so well she won't disturb a nap on her feet to get her proper scissors. So cute. So the haters should take Pollyanna's advice and if they have nothing nice to contribute just be quiet.

"And the sleeves are attached uneventfully, which is always a wondrous occasion." Thank you for reminding me that sleeves are not, in fact, simple amateur stuff I should have gotten in the first attempt - on my second sleeve attachment ever; and that having it not fit 4 times, followed by discovering it was inside out compared to the rest of the shirt - but it fit perfectly this time!, is a perfectly good reason to set down your project and refuse to touch it, except to shove it out of the way, for 2 days while reverting to some "simple" quilt piecing. If Bernadette considers installing a sleeve correctly on the first attempt a "wondrous occasion" at this point in her sewing journey, who am I, with all of my non-practice with garments to think I should be permitted to do so without strife?

Some of her videos had complementary written dialog at bottom so you could keep up which is good when she talks about the fabrics she is working with so you can actually spell it out correctly and not sound it out. She has to speak and chew gum at the same time. Verbally communicating, active using hands to draw, cut in placement with the camera, and handling lighting and equipment so I have to comment her for the job she is doing. Wasn't Marie Antoinette's "Chemise a la Reine" actually considered as "underwear"? But, she wore it as outerwear and is wearing it in one of her many famous portraits! What she did was very risque and bold! You might say that Marie Antoinette was the "Madonna" of her time (Madonna, the popstar, made wearing underwear as outerwear popular in the 1980's). I enjoy watching your videos! You're so talented!

Yes. It was a great scandal that she didn't wear a corset and such light garment. Especcially because the fashion trend was big, bigger, biggest in hair and dresses. But at this point in time Marie Antoinette withdrew more and more from Versailles and had here own palace and small village built to live an as "normal" as possible life. This dress was part of her new lifestyle.
