Research and documents that you have must be misinformation. We welcome you to come to our place. Before Minangkabau embrace Islam, still there is no part time husband in their community. Probably from China region that also have similar custom and tradition wiches matrilineal also. I once saw it on KZbin. Researcher straight go to that region and live together to watch and research their tradition whiches unique to westerner. So goto Minangkabau land and ask our elders than you can make solid and pure content, not like hear say only.

Hello i am selvyan from west Sumatra. i am appreciate and trully happy that you make a Content about our community. However I want to point some information that not quite riqht. 1) Part time husband, nowadays husband and wife live together in woman's family house. can you tell me from where you got that information, because i never heard or learn the things about part-time husband concept. Maybe you have misinterpreted some information. so in our comunity, husband or we call it 'sumando' live in their wife's family house. If they are going through divorce, sumando or husband will leave the house. so i think maybe you misnterpeted this fact. Minangkabau custom has adopted islamic religious custom since long time ago. So - Minangkabau womans doesn't have such a sexual freedom. being Minangkabau womans mean we have to be though, but because we adopt islamic custom mean we must obey our husband. even we are the one who held the clan possession. - we don't belive reincarnation. since we adopt islamic custom we believe there are forever life after dead. that is heaven and hell. and in islam we don't belive in reincarnation. buried to earth is simply islamic custom. its mean we return to earth. This video is based on research I have done on documents and reports that are available online; you can find them in those websites that analyse topics related to women's emancipation and models of matriarchy or matrilineality in ancient and modern communities. I understand from your story that there was probably a significant historical change when your community embraced Islamism. From that moment, new laws and practices were probably introduced, to the detriment of the traditional ones. Thank you very much for your clarification. Happy to know that there are at least some tribes living like our tribes.. That is khasi tribes in Meghalaya North East part of India.. We are also matriarchy.
