Congrats on the big win! I rebuilt merfolk in modern and legacy after having previously taken it apart and after having left those formats altogether for entire years after 2019 happened. Seeing you playing the deck earlier in the spring made me believe in it again, and I just top 32'd a 100 person event with fairly minimal preparation thanks in no small part to some key takeaways from watching your NRG matches. I do fine, but not great. You have to be incredibly defensive early on. Keep your life total high. Later in the game disrupt their mana so they cannot flashback Phlage.

I think the only difference is my tournament winning list had a Minamo, School at Water's Edge instead of a 10th island. Other than that they are the same.

Earlier you Said that trickster and Harbinger of the tides sucked. But still you play them both. What is your Thoughts about them in main and sb?

Trickster has gained a lot of value in the light of Boros Energy, Nethergoyf, and Eldrazi Tron. Harbinger of the Tides is strictly for Scam decks, but it's also fine vs Psychic Frog decks.

Pretty terrible. You turn the opponent's creature into a 3/3 which still outclasses most of our creatures.

Hi Nikachu, I tried playtesting and using a merfolk list I created WITHOUT Vial. Went 4-1 lost only to Affinity. Have you tried it?

I have a 5-0 with Vial-less. Community is pretty hyped on some Vial-less builds.

Hi Man, i saw lots of your recent runs and i notice that everytime you play rishadan dockhand in your first turns you tend to loose the game... Have you ever consider shipping it fully?

Well, Dockhand can be good depending on the match up and the follow up. I want enough 1 drops so that I can sometimes curve into lords and beat my opponent down. Dockhand is also quite good vs cascade and Amulet. I'll keep a close eye to see if I still need it, but my deck usually does worse if I don't have enough plays on turn 1.

They would need to downshift a LOT of cards. But I guess you could make something out of Silvergill Adept, Merrow Reejerey and maybe Merfolk Trickster if those were commons.

DRC and Nethergoyf, mostly. Also it's very useful to pass the turn with mana up on turn 2 and 3 vs Storm and Boros Energy.
