OH!!!!!!! I had 2 copies of Cursed Totem in my board since... however long the last RCQ season was for Modern, but had no idea my Mirage ones were like $30 until now. Nice!

Good games, g1 I was stone dead after that FoN on Vial. From what I remember, I had four 3drops in Hand when the Game was over lol

I boarded out all 3 LoA and that was a big mistake. Any Lord would have won me the game, probably you have to still keep them in

Hey love the content as always. Just checking - we used to be able to see the chat in the sidebard? Now it's the counterspell art - love the art, but I liked reading the chat as well. Will it be coming back?

There's no chat in this video because I didn't stream it live. I don't stream Modern Challenges because: A) Entry fee is large B) Tournament easily ruined by snipers (lose one match and it wastes 8 hours of a tournament) C) Competition is way harder and I prefer to focus on my games than read chat. I stream my leagues because I don't care much for all of the above in those events.

I wen’t 2-3 drop. Drew terribly and lost to Yawg twice. Ive cut 4 dockhands and 2 Reejerey for 4 svyelun and 2 harbinger, but other then that same list. You are coming to Ottawa for the RC in February?

You should use Tidebinder on Grist or Soul Cauldron, not lands vs Yawg.

@@nikachuplaysmtg Then their other cards can't beat you. Your Merfolk are going to be much bigger than their mana dorks or Young Wolves, you have 14 Lords in your deck. Save the Tidebinders for things that matter. It is also strong against Yawgmoth himself as it counters the ability after they have sacced a creature (so they get nothing for that), and they will have to sac 2 or more creatures immediately in response to kill your Tidebinder if they still want to use it. There is a good reason Tidebinder says Artifact Creature and Planeswalker on the card, it was clearly made to combat the 3 best cards in Yawg decks. Rhinos is very good vs Yawg, why? Because they quickly crank out 4/4s to smash through Yawgs weaklings and have spot interaction vs the cards that matter. Merfolk can do the same thing.

Is there a card with a less good but similar effect of Aether Vial that may be available in Arena? It bums me out that I can’t use it lol

I don’t think so. Gemstone caverns is a fine replacement but I don’t think that’s Arena Legal either.

It's a playable card but I don't think it gives any special edge vs any of Moderns strongest decks

I find just having more Lords and Sinkholes (Tideshapers and Spreading Seas (or Dockhands) works better. I prefer the Spreading Seas over Dockhands as it enables Lords Islandwalk for your entire team for game stealing turns from out of nowhere.
