I think the new sideboard is very pretty and practical, it provides enclosed storage space that you did not have with the former hall table. As you noted, the increase in contrast between the color of the furniture and the wall color is pretty and provides a great accent, but the new piece is not "more modern" looking than the table you had there before. It strikes me as more transitional toward traditional, which I happen to like personally as a style. Mixing up styles of furniture in a room, done the right way, brings it to life and gives that "curated" collected pieces over time.

Everything looks beautiful and welled styled I purchased the trinket container in both colors and they are great for styling too! I have been adding a few neutral pieces to my family room to brighten up my space and I am loving it. Your new curtains are beautiful too
