Brilliant design once again. I like the way you situate the house on the property instead of just plopping a rectangle or square in the middle, like many houses are done. You take into consideration the seasons, country, light aspect and times of the day as the sun rises and sets. Brilliant! I guess that’s where your architecture training comes in. You don’t try to ‘wow’ with bizarre and shocking designs. Just organized and logical simplicity that’s also beautiful! Your voice is so calming and gives a relaxed mode to your videos, as well. I could listen to you speak about your designs for hours! Thank you once again!

There are polycarbonate panels made for greenhouse use in cold weather, so yes, there are some options. These have channels built in, so there's trapped air within each panel. Using materials made for commercial use in residential buildings opens up all sorts of opportunities.

Love how you capitalized on the features of this property and used innovative materials to create something special. This Lantern Cottage is so inviting! I also like the idea of having a small auxiliary space in the garden - perhaps a studio space that could accommodate an overnight guest. With thoughtful consideration to the development of the garden, this could be a marvelous home for a couple or single person. Love it!

Deciding where the building should be on the land and potential sight lines is so important. As I look around most don’t seem to think about these or worse yet they want you to see an expensive building (at the expense of privacy and landscape/large trees). I really only want to know so much about my neighbors.

An interesting concept for sure, but IMO only a concept. Any insulation would block light, and the location demands high levels of insulation. As a previous comment mentioned, the actual planning consent on this site is for something in keeping with the surroundings… the narrow mindedness of planning departments is mind boggling. All that being said, I really enjoy the insight you have given in the thought processes for this design and those in your other videos. Subscribed.

extremely thoughtful design. Beautiful work. I live in Southern California. We have very strict building codes. For example, the staircase you've designed would not be code compliant here due to the high fall hazard it poses. I've been to Europe so I know the standards are different. But, I do believe it allows for more creative freedom in my opinion.

Hi Adrian, thanks so much for your thoughts. There are different rules for mezzanines though it depends where you are, what the usage of the space is, and the overall scale of the structure. Ultimately in creating these concept designs I’m not treating the projects as if I’d be taking them through to construction but rather want to explore the feeling of spaces. I always have the rules in the back of my mind as a default so they do guide my decisions, I just decided to set some parameters for where I’d focus my efforts.

I live in the suburbs of a large city in southern USA, and I am convinced that some of these developers only consider how to squeeze as many houses in an area, (that was once old farmland or vacant field) as much as possible with no consideration to headlights shining into a living room window, side windows facing into the next door neighbor's side window, or the direction of the sun, etc. Our house shades our back deck, in late afternoon and evening, and the side window of a bedroom faces the next door neighbor's windowless side wall of their garage, but my husband and I overlooked these features when purchasing our house, so we feel very lucky. But why can't developers be more considerate towards nature and neighbors, which can still be cost efficient, when designing suburban developments? Love listening to your gentle voice and your consideration to privacy, efficient floor plan, position of the house on the lot, how the house will blend into the community and also, nature.

Is it resistent enough to handle snow acmulation, storms & cia.? Does the stair and piched roof have the same inclination angle? Which would be the stone used? I love stones, but where I live is all about bricks an d concrete... Also how wide is the sttair and how big is the bathroom? is there a limit for how many floors you can have? thanks! :)
