Great work. Nice design. I wouldn't choose sedum for a patio plant. The bees love them.

Thanks, Sedum only for video filled with wispy grasses now. 😊

I really like these planters and plan to make a couple for my patio seating area. Great idea to use the 2x2 as a marker for the inside!!

Great job. Only thing I would change is add pocket holes to the inside of the top slate and attach the top trim prior to putting in the inside border that will hold the black homedepot planter. This would avoid the nail holes in the nice trim piece. Very minor and really just personal preference. Its a great job.

Thank You! I believe it was roughly $100 for the pressure treated wood. It was still post Covid Pricey. A bit less now here in (Canada) Plus your pots of course. I had the exterior stain already. Hope this helps. Thanks for Watching!

This might be a stupid question, but I would like to make one of these to hide a man hole cover, it’s 20”x20” could you help me with what sizes I would need please? And if I’m making it square would all 4 sides not be cut to same size ?

A lot of work and time to build a planter box that only holds one specific pot, hanging by the rim, which could get brittle in the sun and break, instead of supporting it from the bottom, and no room to pull the pot out for any reason, so if you do any additional planting you'll have to move the whole thing over onto the lawn and back if you don't want to spill dirt on the patio.

I like the layout and build but asking why can't short slats be glued/screwed to make one panel then glue/screw the long slats to cover the ends of the short slats. Same outcome but no extra 2x2 inside? Just a question.

Is the wood stain 3:40 safe for soil and plants? Is it waterproof?
@DIYFotoWorks10 ай бұрын
The wood stain is a solid Color Exterior Wood Stain, generally meant for fences etc. Very Durable, essentially waterproof. It’s never in contact with soil/plants. Thanks for Watching! 😊

What size screws did you use?
@DIYFotoWorks5 ай бұрын
If I remember correctly 1 5/8 for the slats, 2 1/2 inch for the frame.

I mean... everything is a right-angle cut. It doesn't get any more beginner than this. He uses some specialty jigs for some of the connections, but you don't *NEED* things like that; and/or, you can buy them if you feel it helps, they're not expensive and don't take a lot of room. Instead of finding a weak excuse to try... just try it. This project is completely entry-level.
