Depressing James Bond (in space) is a low key close approximation of Cowboy Bebop... maybe, IDK, I've only seen the bad movies. TANGENT EDIT FOR NO ONE IN PARTICULAR: This is the ending theme of Cowboy Bebop and it plays at the end of every episode, except two. The 'final' song of Cowboy Bebop, the song that literally ends the show is called "Blue" and it's one of the most hauntingly optimistically depressing songs out there, more or less a song about the consequences of a live lived. One of the reasons Cowboy Bebop remains held in such high regard after decades is it came out in a time when anime had real trouble delivering satisfying conclusions and I very much believe if the anime had ended in any way other than that specific song, it wouldn't remain held in such high regard. It really allowed the show to emotionally resonate with a generation of (typically edgy outcast) anime enjoyers in a way that I don't know if it could have otherwise.

This song is about English peasant farmers who cultivated woad for blue dye, and the hardship they faced when imperial England started to favor indigo from the Indian colonies.
