I love your videos on the United States of Awesome! I was getting worried about you. I bought a new house (4 years old) at age 67 (STUPID!) and my new listening room is going to be nearly 3 times bigger than my current listening room. Even though it's in a lower below grade level, it has a 9 foot ceiling. I'm getting excited! I have a feeling my 1974 Marantz 2220b at 20 wpc will not be quite enough so I may be making some changes too. I have a bunch of amps in the bullpen just waiting.

How about using your Marantz pre outs and hook up some high power class D power ampage. I suspect that would be very sweet. I am just waiting for a pair of Fosi monos and plan on trying them with my Allnic tube amp, my vintage Sansui Au 7700 and, if it has preouts, a lovely Yamaha Cr 820 receiver I just picked up. Vintage character😊 but extra power.

I believe that when you play a CD all of the information about the artist including the artwork is displayed? The best feature of any cd player on the market if this is the case.

$3000 for the EVO? Forget it. I am sure the new Wiim Ultra gets you mostly there while kicking off a zero on that figure. At $320, it is a no brainer. I can put a really nice sound system together for $3000 instead of wasting it all on one little gray box.

WiiM Ultra is not an amp... but I get your point. There will always be cheaper/value option in audio! I own and enjoy many WiiM products, but sometimes it's nice to elevate the experience and the aesthetic (within budgetary limits). I'm interested in Ultra as well, but I'm happy with my Pro for now!

@@UnitedStatesofAnalog I don't like any company that takes advantage of the buyer and figures they can charge these huge figures for only a marginal improvement in sound. Cambridge Audio is one of these companies that are topping that list. They figure they can charge four figures for these little boxes and the truth is that one can get similar peformance for much less. There is no way in hell I will be spending more than $1k for one of these little boxes...ever! Eversolo is a company I been keeping an eye on, but Wiim does seem like it is an excellent performer for the price. Right now my sights are on the Wiim Ultra and I am just looking into some more reviews on it since the product just has been shipping this past week.

I'm not so sure about that CD transport. It costs 40% of the streaming all-in-one! And it becomes a paper weight if the EVO 150 fails. I'll admit it does look real nice but if I'm getting an all-in-one I really don't want to be adding other bulky components and additional power cables. I wish more manufacturers (looking at you NAD) would do what Eversolo does - play CDs from a USB CD drive that's compact and can be had for less than $100. Just one simple USB cable between the units for both power and data. Rose Audio sells a good looking and compact CD transport for far less ($449) than Cambridge Audio. I find the VU meters on these screens gimmicky at best. I think these screens don't have the refresh rates and brightness/contrast/black levels for realistic looking VU meters. They need 120Hz OLED screens, but those are expensive and probably don't last as long as LCDs.

The chip matters little. It is the analog section which makes the biggest difference. I can attest first hand that the unit sounds remarkable. Even compared to expensive outboard DACs. Don't get hung up on the chip.
