I'm 82, have played for over 60 years, am still learning and have been working hard on improving my swing at the PGA Superstore in Rockville, Maryland. I watched the video Milo did of his own swing in normal speed and slow motion without comments. One thing that really impressed me was how closely his right elbow is to his belt all the way through the downswing and the right arm is still bent at contact, not straightening until a foot or so after contact. It was actually a staff member at the PGA SS who put me on to Miles, so I will look forward to watching many of your videos. With thanks.

Great post, as usual. The thing I like about your teaching is that you don't talk about shallowing the club (at least that much), or creating separation. You teach the proper movements, the pattern, that produce separation, and shallowing of the club.

Milo I have finally figured out how to start transition and downswing with chest rotation and allow the flinging of arms off chest and thru the ball. Took me 5-6 buckets to turn off my hands in the transition and just turn my chest down and thru. Also I was standing a little too far from the ball and standing up (early extension) thru impact. I have it down pretty good now - its actually very easy to do. I'm hitting everything dead straight and driver is going 250 - 260 carry, which is pretty good for a 58 year old in Seattle 50 degree weather.

Great video thanks from all of us older folks. I like the thought of making a "body driven swing." If I can make a recommendation, please you use "lead" and "trail" language (instead of "left" and "right') as much as possible. For all us lefties out there.

Great video and lot off good information👍 You show nicely, that club head behind and body turn brings it to impact. What if you can't turn that much. How do you then get club head at impact More active hands or what else you can do?

Do you teach every golfer the same modern rotational swing principles? I can see that having many of the same holes that 'method' teachers have run into over the last 45 years. it puts swing method before the golfer. Just because someone can exit left or rotate doesn't mean it is ideal for their body type, fitness level or flexibility.
@MiloLinesGolf
@MiloLinesGolf 28 күн бұрын
@@PotatoGunCamper I teach the golfer. Most players that seek me out are looking for the athletic modern rotational swing. I do pivot away from my preferences when it suits the student. Watch the video of me coaching John Gehrisch kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5emXo1udpuomdEsi=9PbFF38yO__Eg0vy

Most of the seniors that don't rotate in either direction are probably trying to protect a sore back, hips or knees, they may not realize that they probably can rotate some without injury, but are afraid to risk it.

guys, i'm 72 in decent shape and i switched to a more rotational and it's working for me. i learned a lot of it from your video instruction and have found it not hard on the body at all. i have found that i need to wear spiked golf shoes because i'm using the ground more for leverage and helps with footing. i'm going for a club fitting because i think the shafts i have now are holding me back, i can only get 130 out of my 7 iron with R steel shafts but 200-220 carry with the graphite driver. thnx for the info aimed at us seniors.

Love this. I’m one of Ed’s students down in Chula Vista. I’m 62 and have only been playing for a couple years. Luckily I was pretty high level in another sport and have retained my athleticism and much of my strength. However, I do feel aches and pains I did not feel 20 or 30 years ago. I have been bitten by the golf bug and am not looking to be cured. Anything I can to do maximize my capabilities (and minimize pain) as I age is greatly appreciated. I really like your content and appreciate all you are doing. It makes a difference. Thanks for all you do!

Hi Milo enjoyed this video. Although I don’t think of a baseball swing at all or even an ‘infielder right half sidearm half underhand to first after fielding a ground ball’ as Ben Hogan describes in his 5 lessons At age 76 I now understand the physics behind ground force reaction is that a golfer need only think of planting their feet on the ground as it is the ground force reaction that turns their body and lifts their trail heel off the ground and not the action of the golfer lifting their trail foot off the ground at the end of their swing. Remember we all only have one chance to get it right unless we are relatives Mr Mulligan. So I do a little wiggle waggle with my belly button to wake up my oblique and stomach muscles. Pause. And then to get correctly into my golf posture i place my lead elbow initially pressing at the point down across my chest. I then simply start my back swing with my belly button turning approximately 4 inches along with my lead elbow laterally following as my hands, arms, shoulders, hips, and knees will respond winding my body up to the point it has no other choice but to shift and turn my body left. It is through the physics of parametric acceleration that I trust my club head will be then going directly through my ball post impact of which the momentum of my club head with ground reaction force will stand my body up at the end of my swing. Cheers 👍😃⛳️🥂

Caught I’m caught in between methods by my our choice. Grew up Nicklaus-Watson era and use upright and high hands concepts-when doing rotational concepts I never fully understood the subtle aspects. Milo is in my opinion correct, my concepts and perception held me back. the baseball swing gives one a sense of motion and the adaptability to incline plane and ball on ground is the turning point. 👍

Throwing the club early at the ball has caused me so much back trouble...if you put the time in along with Milo teachings - my favourite is slow motion the move - I hit 20 - 30 balls everyday in slow motion - I've seen results and gained effortless power which is making it a more enjoyable game to play 😊

If you get deep into the right hip the left heel will lose pressure (and perhaps lift) in response to the pressure loading into the right heel? It’s a dynamic balance thing, right?

Just carried up from the basement a 15kg bag of dog food and just out of curiosity pretended I wanted to toss it but not letting go. Turns out with a heavy weight like that your body has no choice but to do exactly the motion pattern you are teaching for the body motion. Dropping low with the legs (lemon squeeze) and using the hips as a counter weight to sling the load around and into a balanced finish.

Milo, how do you have and maintain tension free and limp arms in the golf swing at the expense of not losing a firm grip at the top of the backswing. It seems as though the only way I can turn off and not defaulting to an arm swing is to keep a super light grip. Once I firm up my grip, I default to using my arms. Yikes! Please help.

Rotation has NEVER been a good idea as a source of speed in the swing. The human body is not built that way - never has been - never will be. You must protect the spine and using rotation as a source of speed will destroy the spine. Tour players have spine problems for a reason. The body rotates some only in the supporting role of the rocking of the pelvic girdle and shoulder girdle. The human body evolved this way for running and throwing as humans that could do those 2 things survived and reproduced because they did not get eaten and were able to eat other animals. Think of vertical sources of speed not rotational. Rock your girdles and throw down then up. The body will rotate naturally to support that without damaging the spine.

If you dont rotate correctly yes it will hurt the spine.
