Well, I watched the entire thing, pausing at some places, and have something to say. This is astonishingly great. Half an hour of total gnomism, baseness and madness. I really like it. But I think, you could add more. Great work, still. If you will make another video of this kind, with dozens of warlord states, I think I will give you some ideas (even if you don't need them)
@sovii28522 жыл бұрын
Thanks, i put a lot of effort into it. The next video with a scale similar to this that I'll be making will be on Russia, if you have any tips or suggestions and maybe even criticisms then i'd be glad to hear them.
@romawar2 жыл бұрын
@@sovii2852 I'm russian myself. I think you should add Sergei Furgal, former leader of Khabarovsk Region. Irl, his opposition views leaded him to dismission by Russian government, and it sparkled protests. In modern tno scenario, he can be former leader of obkom (Regional Committee of the CPSU). Also I think that in modern TNO scenario, Nemtsov is still alive in 2020s, so Navalny isn't a leader of liberal opposition, maybe (with a low chance) a successor to Nemtsov. If you need something bizzare, your choice is Anatoliy Vasserman. You can make him a left-wing populistic technocrat, or something like this (being a memetic person himself, he holds some strong left beliefs. He even wrote a book about huge role of planned economy in the future, when technological progress makes good enough processors for some form of OGAS). Also, what is situation with Internet? Is it compared more with irl Chinese (total censorship) or is it like in irl Russia (government tries to censor, but it is still a tool of opposition)? If it's like in China, I can suggest some high-ranking officials, like Kasyanov, Stepashin and Kirienko, and even some not Russians, like Lukashenko or even Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov. If second is available, you can add some irl bloggers, but it will have a lot of similarities to Лимонный's video on Post-Putin Russia Reunification, so I don't recommend doing it. Check his video out if you haven't, by the way. I hope I gave some good ideas.
@romawar2 жыл бұрын
@@sovii2852 And about criticisms, I have the only two - discord pings in Celestial state and not adding potato pride song in Agricultural communes event in Korea video. Ok, I'm just joking. If being serious, the light-blue text is too hard to read from mobile phones/tablets, so try to make the part with portrait, national focus and other things like 10-15% smaller, and make the text bigger. Only my suggestion as a mobile user. Check the KZbin stats, if more people watch you from mobile phones, then consider doing it.

09:08 is not in Pinyin but in Cantonese I think, considering Zheng’s experience OTL. Also, 25:43 is “山林” in Chinese, a term used by the bandits themselves to glorify their gatherings and bases. A Chinese idiom “啸聚山林 (Gathering in Shanlin with a roar)” is used based on the description of Shuihu (水浒), a Yuan-era Chinese popular novel about the civilian heroes that gathered to resist against the feudal dynasty. Apparently the term in the video is used as an irony as Zhao is a bandit through and through.
@zhuoshuilin42162 жыл бұрын
@@sakeburyojo4218 If that's the case I'd recommend using 绿林好汉/Heroes in the Greenwoods, as typically "Heroes in the Greenwoods" are just "Bandits" in Chinese and "Heroes" is being ironic more straight-forward-ly

Correction: 09:08 should be “Committee of Public Security”. The spelling is definitely Cantonese, took me long enough to figure it out. Why did you put the National Peacebuilding Corps so high within the democratic factions? They are neocons who have modeled their foreign policy of Cold War Era US and probably have the highest chances of starting a nuclear war outside of the militarist leaders. With New Kuomintang in charge of the new republic based on liberal democracy, I would imagine that it can basically give a much more lighter stance of people of different cultures compared to OTL KMT. 5:52

And I have a new idea that I'm not sure about myself, which is to create a new forces to restore the Ming Dynasty, after all, the Qing dynasty is not very popular in OTL(It has been said on the Chinese Internet that to travel through time without overthrowing the Qing Dynasty, the anus will be used by countless people),This modern Ming leader can be set as Zhu Rongji - Zhu Yunlai.But then I realized that China has been a republic for a hundred years, and the republican tradition in the south would also be stronger, so joining this force would be a bit forced.

As someone with a great interest in alternative history in China and Chinese contemporary politics, I find this really, really well done, from events to the choices of music pieces and quotes. Thank you! Only question I had would be what would happen to the Uyghurs? I know they are still non-existent in the TNO universe, but what do you think?
@sovii28522 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed :) And also, to explain what the Uyghurs are going through in the TNO Universe, I had to take the tidbits of information we get on Xinjiang in TNO. By 1962 Xinjiang is ruled by a clique from the Old KMT, and they're holding onto power just barely. East Turkestan is actually in the game files, which leads me to believe that there's some sort of low-level Uyghur insurgency happening. So in Modern TNO, Xinjiang is recovering from this instability. There are some Uyghur insurgents still around, but most were stomped out by the Chinese. They're seen with suspicion by their Han overlords for their "rebelliousness", and this often leads to mistreatment and abuse. Not to mention the fact that the province is very underdeveloped and the Chinese government tries to "modernize" it by importing Han Chinese workers, who get better treatment in comparison to the Uyghurs, and because of this, the Uyghurs are often displaced and they see this move as colonialism. So yeah, they're facing some similar issues, but it's still far from what they go through IRL.

They'd take China's place as the main Asian power once again; following the Great Asian War Japan became essentially irrelevant, and by having China not only collapse but also invading them and turning them into a puppet state essentially brings them back to relevance in Asian geopolitics. When does this happen in the TNO timeline? How is the situation in China like to lead to a second warlord era?
@sovii28522 жыл бұрын
Let me piece it together: Modern TNO is within the timeframe of 2012-2022, and China is somewhat stable before the collapse. The Nanjing Government won the Great Asian War and after a 15 year reconstruction period they were able to get back on their feet. They're ruled by Jiang Zemin's Shanghai Clique (With Jiang ruling between 1994-2012 following Gao Zongwu's death and then handing over power to Wu Bangguo) and all things considered, they're very similar to OTL China but with the Kuomintang in charge. If you take a look at the leader biographies (only if you want to, of course) you'll see that corruption and general incompetence is a massive problem in this China, and the Kuomintang's failure to bring democracy following Gao Zongwu's death made them look illegitimate; even KMT politicians opposed to the Shanghai Clique claim that the Kuomintang failed to live up to their original ideals. (And these KMT politicians go on to establish the Revolutionary KMT in Fujian should Chiang Hsiao-yen's coup fail.) The rest is explained in the first event; there are strikes, protests, the government wants the military to crack down on them, the military splits, dissidents return to China and call for a revolution, the country falls into a paralysis, people start taking up arms, and then all hell breaks loose.

@@qacheaksr3800 Sorry for the late response! I was actually hoping someone would ask this very question. There was a democracy movement around the same time as OTL, but things went a little different. After the Great Asian War, China entered a reconstruction phase to recover from the conflict, and plans to restore democracy were put on hold. This was a controversial move and there were some protests against it. The Democracy Wall Movement happened in this timeline, which is where Wei Jingsheng began his activism, but it was on a very small scale to have that much of an impact and only a few individuals (including Wei) were punished for it. By the mid 1980s, the KMT begins to relax some of its' restrictions of public meetings. This lead to the emergence of the second democracy movement. They appear in small-scale demonstrations at first, but they peak in 1988 following the death of Tao Xisheng, an important member of Gao's inner circle who had tried to push for democratization. Now, this is the point where things get serious for the KMT. Gao wanted to push for democratization, but by that point he had kicked the issue so far down the road that a good portion of the KMT was against democratization. Not to mention that Tao's death meant Gao had lost a major ally who was sympathetic to democracy, and he was practically alone. Back to the democracy movement, they will peak between 1988-1992, but they will fail to make any meaningful change because of internal squabbles between students and workers. The workers want to push for social reforms, but the students only cared about democratization and they saw the trade unionists with suspicion. This eventually leads to the trade unions abandoning the movement and the student organizations begin to rapidly decline. By the time the government finally cracks down on them in 1994, these organizations are so small and fragile that it goes mostly unnoticed in China and the world. As for the government, Gao's health deterriorated during the crisis due to his age. Without Gao, the KMT had split in half between those who were favorable to democracy and those who were not, this divide was bridged by Jiang Zemin's Shanghai Clique, who took a neutral stance during the crisis. The Clique grew and became so influential that when Gao finally died, Jiang took power, and the rest is history. So to sum it up, there was a democracy movement that shook the entire country, but they failed due to internal issues. The conservative faction of the KMT won out and repressed these movements, but not on the same scale as the CCP did in OTL, so there were no "incidents" and such.

What happens to nationalists/communists/democrats when the Chongqing Conference fails? What prevents the formation of a state, like the OTL KMT in the warlord era from having national aspirations and reunifying China through a second northern expedition?
@sovii28522 жыл бұрын
They collapse into factionalism and are split between different groups. When the United Front is formed, all three of them absorb different political movements that don't necessarily align with their mainstream ideology but are sympathetic to their goals. The Democrats have Progressives and Market Liberals in their ranks, the KMT has Neocons and proto-Fascists, and the Communists have to deal with Reformists, Pro-Moscow Communists, Maoists and even some ultranationalists. So if the Conference fails, these movements collapse and its' members are scattered into regional warlord governments. That doesn't mean there wouldn't be a KMT warlord or two, but they would be so crippled that it would take a few years for them to prepare another Northern Expedition.
