Thanks for another great vid, Dave. Also, I received my PLSK1 in the mail along with the pack stove with grill top and the bottle and nesting cup with the bag and the bottle clip set. Absolutely amazed with them. The PLSK1 feels as if it could skin a tank. BHK knocked one out of the park. It's "bullet proof" for sure. Thanks to you and your family for putting up with the shenanigans the last few years must have provided to you and them. Tiny - Columbus Indiana

Great idea with the double set. I found a leg bone of a whitetail and kept some partridge tail feathers for a visual attractant for some red fox this fall. These videos are awesome! Keep it comin'!

They are expensive, but I use those big walk in cages with the floor trigger to catch problem coyotes and dogs. It is a little more humane when caught, but it's up to you to do what you want after they are caught... Great tutorial Dave.

when you set the trap put the dog towards you and use your palms to hold the jaw down, then flip your outer jaw up and use your fingers below the jaw, if you set your trap this way you will find that you wont get your fingers caught in the trap

Dave have you ever thought about making or buying a small hand tamper for making your trap bed I dont know much about traping but I would think it would give the trap a better base and keep it from rocking ect you might even be able to make one with a dowl rod and a wood block so that you can take it apart and carry it in your pack just a thought thank you for all the great videos you put out

hes using an earth anchor its a small piece of metal that you can attach to the chain. It goes in vertically but after its driven in it turns horizontally and cant be pulled out

In this type of set, would you have to worry about the coyote getting hung-up in one and then getting hung up in the second trap as well? If he is trying to work himself out of the trap and gets hung on the second, is he likely to damage himself? Just curious, as I am looking to start trapping. This series has been amazingly helpful. Thank you for everything you do.

Dave why don't you gang set more? I catch a lot of coyotes and if a spot is good enough for one set its good enough for two. Also since you use pan covers try the stiff screen ones. They increase the pan area a lot giving a bigger catch area.

Do you have any suggestions for the potential domestic animals snooping around? See it's inner city or suburbia here, tragically.. but there are infinite smaller lots between abandoned businesses and such that would certainly yield game. Only real concern is the potential for domestic animals and/or local ordinances. Plus it's always fun adapting your methods to my area.

Dave, I’m wondering about those earth anchors. I notice you use them on all your sets. I’ve been with some real pros, government trappers, and I’ve never seen them anchor a coyote trap hard and fast. Without exception they used drags. A solid anchor gives the coyote something to pull against, and there is to much danger of a pull out. Your thoughts?

aluminum screen works good adds to the kill area of the pan also

I've been watching the vids. it seems like you don't use a spike to secure the trap. Are you using the spike to drive the chain down deep or something... Personally - i'd think you'd want to secure the chain more. Can you explain more? It looks like you are using a 2 foot spike to drive the chain down, but not keeping the spike in the ground.... can you explain more on that issue? Thanks - Great posts!

Dave, isn't there a way to anchor both, the skull and the trap, to the same anchor? That would lower the weight of your pack and the anchor would have that Dual Purpose that you like so much. Just saying. I enjoy this series. thx

Dam Coyotes, THEY ARE SMART! they have scouts set out b4 the pack moves in. The deer does the same thing, have look outs while the heard eats, one get full and looks out while the look out eats. If i can only kill coyotes and not deer ect. i would set out anti freeze for them, But other things gets into it as well even bees. I have a pack of about 35, i'am going to make some land mines for them around some bones in a ditch, so the deer wont get around it. Deer like open flat fields. They howl by my window about 3am and every time i open the door with the 12 ga. pump there gone. Even the crows knows not to mess with me. in the mornings He Heee

Okay this is my last comment on this series stop trying to guide the coyote it's a waste of time. You can force a bobcat and gray fox with a lot of fencing but red fox and coyotes don't like to be boxed in. Try something subtle. Take a piece of wood say 2to 4 inches round and place it opposite to where you want him so step. And dig your whole at a 60 degree angle which will force him to come closer to the hole to work your set Plus firt holes are that good in summer heat.
